What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About this project

Our Story

A while back an exasperated wife asked me to to come up with a solution to rid our lives of paper clutter. My initial inclination was simple - digitize the paper and stick it into categorized folders. I quickly learned that storage does not equal organization and that no matter which categorized method of madness I employed - the end result was organized chaos.

I realized that this was going to be a bigger challenge than I anticipated. But drawing on past experience of working with commercial software to run our salon business and later developing my own software solutions to manage my transportation business I felt that I was up for the challenge.

And so after many painstaking hours of interface design and functionality trial and error a couple of things came to light.

1. Good Organization = Simplicity

2. Simplicity = The Consolidation of Related Information

The bottom line is that I found that an all in one solution was essential to good organization - and so Domestic Order was born.

This has been a part time work in progress until recently when I found out that my transportation contract was ending due to the sale of the original business to another company. I made the decision to go full time on this project and complete it.

I have invested thousands of dollars in hardware and development software and training - and thousands of man hours of research and development without pay - and so now I need your help.

I need funding to pay salary, legal expense & business setup fees, initial advertising, 3rd party development collaboration, misc for unforeseen events, and working capital until the ball gets rolling. We will be operating out of our home initially so as to keep operating expense to a minimum. (Think Apple starting in the garage)

We have high expectations for the products potential - and we would love for you to not only be a part of this projects success - but to be a happy user of the product as well. Thanks So Much for Your consideration and Support.

Risks and challenges

I think that rather than conjuring up a number of negative scenarios to throw doubt into the minds of backers - the question should be - if things happen can we adjust? And the answer is yes - especially if we have the support of the backers.

The software on both platforms is essentially ready for beta testing - however the backside infrastructure for the marketing feature needs to be completed to deliver content - and will require a collaborative effort with 3rd parties.

Anticipating those scenarios where we are dependent on 3rd party performance - I built a component into the software that hides access to the marketing features - but can be turned on with a password when the backside goes live. In other words if there were delays - the software could be released and be fully functional minus that one feature that could be activated at a later date.

I am committed to working with the best resources to make this the best product of its kind which will assure its success.

However - the biggest assurance for the backers is to know that I'm fully committed to this project both philosophically and for livelihood. There are no greater motivators to succeed. But to accomplish it I do need your support - and I hope to make you proud that you were a part of its success.
