Well this is new. I thought kickstarter is careful in removing suspicious campaigns and outright scams, but now they are knowingly letting one happen.
A couple of days ago /u/DiscoKittie posted the "Reflexbox" campaign to this sub. The product is shitty and il-designed, but on top of that, they used CGI renders that depicted their device in a completely unrealistic way, like showing it project black onto glass. Since such renders are prohibited on KS, I've reported them immediately.
Now, 3 days later, the reflexbox people removed the renders from their campaign video and published an update that "clarifies" how the reflection works, BUT they were allowed to keep the money raised so far. This is a classic bait and switch, where the people who contributed based on the original video - that breaks the laws of physics and rules of kickstarter - only get a tiny update "clarifying things" with vague euphemisms like stating that said video "could have been interpreted as misleading". Note that their "clarification" photos are all shot perfectly perpendicular and in very controlled lightning, unlike the current version of their promo video that still features some CGI.
KS should remove the campaign and invite the creators to start again, from $0, with a fixed, completely fair video. Otherwise they are pretty much supporting the misinformation of backers. Even INDIEGOGO did this, although only once, with Triton.
Frankly, the reflexbox is a horrible idea. It is in every conceivable way worse than a normal wireless charging dock. Your screen is mirrored, so it will only work correctly with a specially designed app. Good luck reading mirrored notifications! Since it's glass and not a mirror, it will reflect ~25% of the brightness of the screen, and the viewing angle will be severely limited, as the reflection of the phone screen will move out of the field of view quickly. All this at the cost of added bulk, complexity, being more difficult to clean and at a whopping €55. I can't believe kickstarter is breaking their own rules to support this.
