Typical /r/btc behavior to spread these lies.

Fiverr stopped accepting Bitcoin more than 2 months ago and it wasn’t because of 30 cent fees: http://www.coindesk.com/freelance-market-fiverr-drops-bitcoin/

This is the post that is spreading the fake news btw: https://supload.com/rJZt06T5l

Notice how they are giving the impression that fees are 2 dollars when they are in fact 60 cents.

Not sure what you mean but fees can very easily be 2 dollars when everyone is trying to send. I had a 80 cent fee for about 50 dollars two days ago.

Only if you have a lot of inputs. :P

Fees have never been higher than 240 satoshis/byte.

Could it be possible that users lost interest because of fees? 1usd is a 20% fee in this case.

[–]-Hayo- [

Fees weren’t that high back then and fees aren’t even that high today.

But that isn’t really the point of this post, the point is that /r/btc spreads a lot of FUD and lies to lure new people to their side of the story.

Well this post is calling it fake news... but it's true isn't it? Fiverr have removed bitcoin?

The fake news is the reported reason: "due to rising Bitcoin fees". Which was posted without any sort of verification as fact, and now it has been debunked from the source.

Textbook fake news. Or, as previously known, "lies".

but it's true isn't it? Fiverr have removed bitcoin?

Yes, but not because of rising fees: http://www.coindesk.com/freelance-market-fiverr-drops-bitcoin/

They are also making it look like something new, but Fiverr stopped accepting Bitcoin more than 2 months ago simply because nobody used Bitcoin (according to Fiverr).

/r/btc is altering the facts so it suits their agenda, therefore it is “fake news”.

ChinaBU is faking news? I see no news here :-)

A sensationalist headline yes, old news yes, but there is nothing 'fake' about it. Do you know what else is sensationalist? Calling it 'Fake News' :)

It is fake because the headline claims that they stopped taking BTC "due to rising fees". That is not the case, it is a lie. ie. fake news.

Well the poster clearly thought the cited lack of demand was due to relatively high fees. Which isn't an entirely unreasonable opinion.

That twitter poster is a notorious BU supporter.

Yes, and it was removed back, not now, and was posted on /r/bitcoin (was removed when fee was low).

Or they lost interest because using a credit card is cheaper, easier, and quicker?

There was no problem for bitcoin to solve here.

[–]Demotruk [

Or they lost interest because using a credit card is cheaper,

So you're saying it was because of the fees

Credit card is cheaper regardless of any bitcoin network fees. It's generally at least 1% fee to even buy the bitcoin you'd want to spend.

[–]Demotruk [

If you are including extraneous costs then you have to include the real costs of a credit card (interest charged on late payments, tax in most countries etc.). After all, not everyone buys their Bitcoin. BTW I get my Bitcoin at 0.15% fee.

You pay tax regardless, but sure I guess we can reach real hard and include late payment fees lol.

Let's also factor in credit card rewards programs and lack of volatility risk.

Nah I love bitcoin. Have most of my wealth in it. I just don't like paying unnecessary fees to trade it for goods. Store of value first, currency later. Once it's an established store of value, merchants will be willing to accept it directly and hold onto it. At that point, many of the expenses and hassle will be removed. Furthermore, second tier solutions will enable instantaneous merchant transactions that don't require the 10 minute average confirmation time and network fees.

r/btc is desperately attempting to spread as much lies and fake news as possible. roger ver and gavin anderpson are the biggest offenders.

And as expected /r/btc blames the Core devs for not upgrading block size, LOL.

I actually believe it was due to Israel imposing VAT on Bitcoin transactions, but could be wrong

I would still argue that it had to do with the tons of bad attention Fiverr got over the PewDiePie scandal. They coincidentally removed Bitcoin Support just after that happened? Riiight. Just after they had received enquires about how it was possible people could anonymously pay people to do questionable things? I honestly doubt it. But in the end Fiverr only ever adopted Bitcoin half way. Even if it was one of the sites that would had benefited from adopting it fully as that would had brought a ton more attention from the Bitcoin Community. But it is clear they didn't really wanted that. They just wanted the initial PR Boost from back when they added partial support for it.
