For sale
1957 Aston Martin MK III.
Admittedly, not your usual CL offering.
Unique opportunity to acquire one of the few remaining unrestored and historically significant Aston Martin's in the world.
Absolutely a blue chip investment
This vehicle is actually the Aston Martin MK III prototype
Design Project 193. Chassis # AM300 3A 1300
DP193 has a very fascinating and well documented history.
Aston factory/BBC's entry 1958 Monte Carlo Rally driven by beloved BBC personality Sir Raymond Baxter. Still has the factory installed navigator seat
1957 Geneva and Brussels Auto Show demonstrator.
May 1957 Road and Track feature. Pages 30 and 31
Complete set of original documents from Aston Martin Development Department and engineer's reports on the construction and development of the prototype.
First Aston Martin road car with 4 wheel disc brakes.
First Aston Martin road car to wear what has become a trademark grill design.
MK III is the last Aston Martin with WO Bentley designed engine.
In my ownership since 1984.
Numbers matching and original, except paint.
Cosmetically challenged, not a rust bucket but has some rust.
Probably not suitable for the those with frail egos, OCD or Gucci credit cards
Mechanically very solid. Engine and front suspension rebuilt just before I purchased it. It's been amazingly reliable, always fires right up, every time, runs and drives well.
I recently installed a complete correct new wiring harness as a significant amount of the original factory smoke had escaped from various electrical systems over the years. Also replaced all of the smoke retention connecters at the same time.
All electrical systems function as they should now so next owner can enjoy and display the car without the fear of catastrophic fire
Cons:
Loves to mark it's spot, leaks bodily fluids (except brakes)
It will not talk to you.
It has no onboard navigation system, so you have to find your own way to the pub and home again.
It will not stop or park itself for you.
It can not show you what is in front or behind you.
It is noisy and drafty inside and has poor heating and no AC
Wipers really only rearrange rain drops on the windscreen.
No heated seats, electric windows or mirrors, central locking, cup holders, seatbelts or airbags to explode in your face.
Headliner started to come loose so I started propping it up with old US license plates
Will never win "Best Of Show".
Pros:
It's hard to make guarantees with old cars, but I think I can make a few here.
It will make you smile.
You can drive it home.
You will never see yourself in the rearview mirror, or see another one in the parking lot
You will never have to detail it.
You will have an absolute blast displaying it "as is", way more fun than any of your garage queens. Believe me.
You have a good chance of winning "Peoples Choice" Way more meaningful then Best of Show
If you happened to find yourself parked between JZ's Bugatti Veyron and Nick Mason's Ferrari GTO, the crowd will be around the Aston.
1957 production date means eligibility to most international historic auto shows, rallies and tours.
Investment potential of owning one of the very very few historically significant Aston Martins in the world.
$650,000 usd. Yes the comma is in the right place. Will consider well informed offers.
Includes factory owners manual, service book, parts book and large collection of original photos, letters and Aston Martin books
Will entertain partial trade of interesting vintage European sports car.
