Some of you may have met me, it was small gathering in Assiniboine park and probably 30+ showed up! heck 3 of them were female!!! We even continued the party over to my parents home (who were away on vaycay) and had a pool party afterwards :) it was great night by the way!

Getting to the point here! Someone just posted about getting their deposit refunded where I work (a dealership). In that thread there was crazy stories of people getting ripped off, games being played and just really shady business practices. None actually at the store I work for, but other dealerships in the city.

I want to introduce myself as a person who can change your thoughts about dealerships, and the process of buying a vehicle. I've been doing this for 4 years, and I have full confidence in the store I work for. I play no games, I have no dirty tricks, I do not make you dance for you keys back (?, heard this in another thread) or beg for your deposit back. I make sure my customers have fun during the entire process and have a clear understanding of EVERYTHING. I don't want everyone to think buying a car is like pulling teeth. I want to extend an invitation to anyone in the market for a vehicle to come meet me, you DO NOT NEED TO BUY... let me make that clear, you should not ever feel pressured to buy, with myself or anyone else. I just want you have a good experience, see some current model cars, learn the new technologies and advancements on vehicles today, and understand the current finance/lease programs. Then you go home and go over everything you learnt and make the best educated decision for yourself. Whether it's myself or someone else you buy from, at least I can get you off on the right foot.

Anyways, I guess I am bit disheartened to hear how people view someone like myself in the position I am in. I'm not like that, I'm honest and I live by that, and it works well by resonating with my customers who recognize it! I know I can change your opinion, if you've had a bad experience... please give me a shot.

Thanks! a mod can delete this if it's breaking rules. If you had the chance to change peoples opinions on what you do for a living, I'd hope you offer to do so too! :) Not enough good stories out there. Are you in the car business too?

Here is the problem. For every one of "you" the good salesman.. there is nine scums in the business. Sadly that, plus past reputation from the 70's, 80's and 90's where you could bullshit a customer from start to finish and then eight pay them has killed the car salesman today.

No matter how much the industry changes, or how the customer has more knowledge, information, and power in the sales process today than ever before it is damn well near impossible to change the reputation ingrained in peoples minds.

Ask a twelve year old kid on the street what he thinks of a car salesman and he probably already has a negative opinion.

So.. for as good, honest, reputable of a salesman you are you will have a hell of a time changing the overall perception from the public. The only thing you can do is start changing their mind the minute they walk through the door.
