With his run as host of The Celebrity Apprentice now concluded, Arnold Schwarzenegger is speaking out about why he feels President Donald Trump continues to tweet about him.
“I think he’s in love with me,” Schwarznegger said in an interview that aired Tuesday morning on SiriusXM’s The Michael Smerconish Program.
Schwarzengger’s comments came just days after Trump’s latest Twitter salvo, which poked fun at what the President deemed the “pathetic” TV ratings for the Schwarzenegger-hosted Celebrity Apprentice.
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 4, 2017
Host Michael Smerconish pressed Schwarzenegger for more on Trump, but the former California governor had no comment.
Schwarzenegger did offer a more general comment about how he feels Trump, and Congress, should govern.
I believe very strongly what Eisenhower said. That politics is like the road: the left and the right is like the gutter, and the center is drivable. And I believe that the action is in the center, and I hope that the politicians wake up one day and just decide that they want to do the people’s work rather than the party’s work. Because the way it is right now, it doesn’t work, nothing is getting accomplished.
