Some people here have been discussing Paul Pogba's performances at United and I see that many of you find them underwhelming. Big talent, huge price tag, astronomical expectations, yet, this is a disappointing season so far. We're woefully inconsistent, in Europe's second tier, sixth in the league and ultimately dependant on a mix of youth and mercenaries to get the results that our club demands.

The one bright spot in this season, for me, is Paul Pobga. Though he's not been consistent himself, I consistently find myself admiring his play. Sure, he's defensively suspect, but that can be taught. He'll sky one or two long shots every game, but only because he has the ability to go for the absolutely audacious. He reminds me so much of C.Ronaldo and how he really stood out in an otherwise beige team (ca. 2003-05). One we sold for a world record fee, the other commanded one to make his return.

Pogba's being here really signals intent, to get the best possible players and compete with the very best teams. Honestly, the only other analogus player is Verratti, and he's not even the box-to-box phenomenon that we've missed for more than a decade.

So, despite José, his flaws and misfortunes, I'm having a lot more fun now than under clueless M*yes and that Dutch football-nazi. In an otherwise frustrating season, I really consider myself fortunate to watch a player like Pogba develop and grow into his own with us. What I'm saying is, he probably won't peak for another five or six years. Here's hoping that he fulfills his limitless potential. And that we aim for patience, so that we may enjoy watching the pogress..

Pogba is sick, only 23 and will keep developing into a monster I hope. Something like a Viera/Gullit hybrid who is able to dominate both offensively and defensively.

But I can't delude myself, he has been gash against most top teams we have played, sometimes he is a bit of a pussy defensively given his massive frame and build compared to let's say a 5ft 5 inch Verratti who is a bulldog at times, but all this can be worked on and improved(Which it will with Mourinho).

Price tag isn't his fault, it's woodwards, but I think he will deal with the pressure. He probably won't even be worth £90m, but if we can get 7/8 world class seasons out of him then no one will even care about it. Even Ferdinand cost more than him in terms of % of our revenue and he was an awesome success.

I think Pogba has been great for the most part.

He clearly has an issue with performing under pressure or big occasions though. I think that does come down to inexperience and weight of expectation. It's something he can improve.

we've won the last two domestic cups and have some of the most exciting talents in England.

I get the frustration with shite like Bournemouth, but people seriously need to go easy with the drama.

Of course, trophies are nice things, but United not even competing at the highest level saddens me much more than a domestic cup win gladdens me, especially considering where we were five years ago. Back then, we would have played the damn reserves, I'm telling you..

Edit: Also, we've had quite a few games this season like the B'mouth one, with massive dominance leading to a bad result.

that's exactly what Arsenal fans kept telling themselves the past 10 years, fuck trophies we are always in top 4 and Cl and "competing" with the world's best.

So funny how I I'm thinking the same about what you said! I love to hate Arsenal.

But seriously, that's where we are now. Content with fourth and a maybe cup. That's why I'm so optimistic about a guy like Paul Pogba. He looks hungry and he's been damn unlucky not have higher tallies, statistics wise. So, he still has lots of room for improvement (wtf). I mean, if we're lucky, his future impact will have been underestimated. 100 million, a bargain? Only time will tell!

I mean, last year we were losing way too many games against lesser teams and playing tragic football. This season we are usually playing quite well and just drawing through either poor finishing or goalkeepers transforming in to Buffon. About Pogba, his best years are still to come. Next season onward, he could become a very dangerous player, he's had some great games this season but, as you said, he choked on the big stage. We are 6th and we could still end up 4th although it's a tough challenge but I am enjoying watching United again (except for THAT spell of September/October) I have faith that when we eventually find the perfect striker, carrick replacement and possibly another defender, the glory will come back with it.
