A good decision if you can manage it. My goal as well one day.

My big reservation with moving to the countryside is: where to work? Unless you are retired or can work remotely, you're probably going to still have to deal with traffic jams and such just getting to/from work.

I'm fortunate that my job is in a suburban area, so I can live in a quiet, low-crime suburb while still being close to work and any sort of shopping (e.g. groceries). I do have neighbors, but at least I live in a single-family home instead of an apartment, so it isn't much of an issue.

I think the convenience factor of living in-town is too much to pass up, unless you plan on utilizing the land for something such as growing food.

I spent a few years living in an extremely small town, about 2000 people, 50 miles out of the city that I am living in now.

Let me tell you something, those are the best days of my life.

The air is clean, the water can be drink out of the tap, the people are the best people I have ever met.

There is almost no crime at all, there are only two policemen in the town and they told me that they don't have to do much because it is so peaceful.

There is no politics at all, no marching, no protesting, no feminist, no yelling, no shouting, no boob-showing, no violence. Everyone know one another, but there is no gossip.

Home prices are extremely low, people are actually family-oriented, unlike the ones in the city. Men work and women take care of the home, children, pets, and husband.

There are something to keep in mind though, and that is the lack of public facility, that means there might be a lack of choice. For example, there is only one school, one hospital, one grocery store, one restaurant, one bar, one Subway, one gas station, one hotel, one postal service, no public transportation. So don't expect much and don't expect the same lifestyle you have in the city. Also, don't expect great cellular service, or extremely high speed internet.

If you are travelling often, go to the city. If you want to hook up with chicks every now and then, go to the city. If you want to have 200mbps Internet connection, go to the city. If you want the best school for your children, or private education, go to the city. If you want to see a specialist, go to the city.
If you want to eat Chinese food on Monday, sushi on Tuesday, Mexican on Wednesday, yup, you guessed it.

HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT PEACE, START A LIFE IN A SMALL TOWN, you will love it there

I think urbanization has been a trend for the last couple centuries, maybe it is time for ruralization to be the next thing
