Did this guy really go to /r/circlejerk for an endorsement?

/r/circlejerk ... of all places...

I like how he offered to put them in his sidebar too, like they need the publicity from his tiny subreddit.

Wow this is weird to see drama I have some insider knowledge of. First of all to get the nitpicking out of the way. I was the only one who actually reported him. And he did show up there last night to complain about it then deleted his comments (edit: only the comment he bought me gold for is still there. Not sure why he did that but he sent me PMs claiming he has been spending a lot of money on it lol).

You linked to a self post which would have no function other than to possibly engage other spam reporters. These are rare. The actual subreddit is only read or "staffed" by automated bots that do a certain check on the profiles submitted. Assuming they are up and functioning.

It is very infrequently that they decide to issue an automated shadowban but you'd be surprised on who they ban and who they don't. That usually requires a follow up email to the admin who still only seem to ban the most obvious bot accounts. But those are easy to spot.

All of this sounds a lot like the schism with natureismetal and the mod there using socks to promote his YT channel and now the new 🔥sub. It seems like 90% of spam lately is just aspiring YouTubers. And honestly some of them are great so nobody reports them or can decide if they should be banned.

But they always ban the socks and suspend the offending mod for a week. Edit 2: now they say this unbanned other account he is using is a relative/SO's? He can get in deep crap for that.

Sadly, your report their did nothing because his account is way outside the limits for the bot there. He was reported in dmslack and subsequently temp suspended after links to multiple modmails and the thread I linked above.

The reason it seems they don't always do anything is they prefer to educate rather than punish, which means they are telling people don't spam and giving a day or more timeout before allowing them to go back to spamming.

Lastly, using a different account is allowed, as long as he isn't commenting in subs that he's banned in

I disagree but I'm not about to discuss the specifics as it would would only help spammers. I know a lot about how this works. Let's just say it's an absolutely vital step. And, for the second time, you'd be surprised if you knew the reality of it.

He was reported in dmslack and subsequently temp suspended after links to multiple modmails and the thread I linked above.

Who? You mean via email? How do you know all this and why do we need the private details?

I was merely pointing out that your linked "report" wasn't actually a report. Same with the discussion you linked. It mentions "several" when there's only mine there.

Lastly, using a different account is allowed, as long as he isn't commenting in subs that he's banned in

Again why are you telling me all this? You think this is my only account? Hell no. I don't need weirdos like this guy following me around for my reports.

[–]elfa82Literally Oppresses You[S] 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I was just correcting the record.

[–]spamhit 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Lol I was going to say that.

And someone replied saying the other guy deleted his report. Which we usually do after a successful shadowban but this is just a 7 day suspension which is strange.

So someone else must have emailed the admins.

Moreso every day I want /u/elfa82 to oppress me facedown into a mattress and lovely pillow and sheet pattern.

I'm gonna need some photographic proof on that pillow/sheet pattern.

Hey he's the sugar daddy. Mine's a weird blue grey tartan thing. It embarrasses me in front of company.

[–]Goroman86Cucking my ancestors 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (1子コメント)

That does sound inviting, but I'm more a fan of more neutral colors, gray on different gray, possibly on different gray, if allowed.

[–]RaneadosSome sort of unfeeling popcorn machine. 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I started getting a picture of my current bedsheets. They're gray/gray with a few blue lines with a purple/green duvet thing.

But then the yellow lights were ruining it and the shade is down for night time and it's just UUUUUUUUUUUUUGH.

It ain't fancy.

But if /u/elfa82 walks in and buys me new sheets I'm not gonna thumb my nose at them.

It's from Walmart so let's say 20.

Watching people have tantrums when they're banned from it.

It'a genius. The sub does nothing, offers nothing, and provides no meaningful experience in any way. But people meltdown when they are banned from there.

[–]hyper_thymic 12 ポイント13 ポイント  (1子コメント)

[–][deleted] 5 ポイント6 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Of course!
When it first started out, it was a sub for "selfies of the soul". Images that were relatable. People making silly but understandable mistakes like we all do, socially awkward situations we're familiar with, that sense of inadequacy many of us have, that kinda thing. The appeal was ha ha, that IS me in real life

Somewhere along the line people started posting memes and UPVOTE THIS FOR/OR... images, and it kinda snowballed from there. In-jokes get upvoted, so people post more of them, they start to drown out the original content, then the whole sense of humor there got kinda inbred. Me_irl is basically a case study in what happens when a moderation team puts zero effort in maintaining their sub.

I often sort subs by top, and sometimes filter for posts made within the week or month or year. Me_irl is the first sub that makes me wish I could filter for posts made BEFORE a certain point in time.

I guess I do understand /r/anime_irl despite not watching much anime so maybe I'm just oblivious.

I remember browsing r/all a few days ago and I kept seeing that sub pop up in the comments. Then I realized it was the same guy commenting it each time.

Honestly I think it's pretty god damn pathetic to be working this hard to promote a meme sub that is basically just a ripoff of another meme sub. what is the point....

[–]GeauxHouston22 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

As with any new sub, getting the word out and new subscribers is key.

I know everyone is entitled to their own interests, but man... get some better hobbies than, "growing a subreddit"

read, exercise, clean, etc etc etc

I can't imagine being on reddit 24/7 like some of these people are is good for your mind.
