As a bonus my professor asked if I wanted her to take steps towards writing it out and getting it published in an academic journal.

The idea is that since language, racial, religious, and ethnic minority voters overwhelmingly live in populated urban centers, which usually suffer due to the electoral college, it's reasonable to presume that the system is built that way intentionally. I went into detail about how several elections have shown that candidates would get 95% of the black and/or other minority votes, win the popular vote, yet the "winner" of the election would be elected by rural white men whose votes count for 3-4 times the amount which minority votes do.
