People need to hinder their nostalgic feelings regarding Rooney and realise how bad he is. (self.reddevils)

I know people don't welcome critical debate on here, and kind of kids the players' ass.

But the pass Rooney constantly gets is shocking. People have find memories of him Which is fine. However they are painting over the bigger picture. Rooney needs to go ASAP. He is genuinely our worst player.

So sick of not being able to criticise him.

Was at the game, apart from a few decent dribbles he was piss poor. Carrick offered nothing too just a few decent tackles but misplaced every risky pass forward.

Carrick's legs are gone, could see that today. Starting to look like Scholes trying to run and track back during his last couple of seasons. Looks like other aspects of his game are fading too now. To be expected though he's getting on now.

To be honest I think Rooney gets his fair share of critcism.

The reality is that there were players on the pitch today that played far worse than Rooney. Zlatan and Pogba are the stand-outs - and they're supposed to be our best players. That's why they're critized more.

People have been criticising him for months on here, especially at the start of the season. I'd say the majority of people in this subreddit have accepted the fact that he's gone well past his peak and isn't gonna be a starter again. He doesn't really offer anything anymore I think.

Rooney is bad but he is not a problem like he was last season. I am seriously worried about the mentality of our players now. Zero composure today when we really needed a cool head. We play like this with and without Rooney. Also Griezmann is not someone who is known to have composure in pressure situations. Mourinho's biggest challenge now is to shut down this bottling factory because we are now becoming like the North London clubs and this is not Rooney's fault.

Rooney, Mata, Fellaini, Young and a few others all passengers who need to go. Carrick needs to be replaced asap too, wouldn't be arsed if either Smalling or Jones were sold to make way for a better quality consistent centre back.

He is a good player but he is getting wasted here. Look how good he was at Chelsea with a team built around him, I think he should leave for his own benefit anyway, plus on the wings he is really invisible in many games, sure he pops up with a goal every now and then but a United winger has to be wreaking havoc on full backs.

Hilarious how he was shafted to the wings in favour of Rooney.

You can criticize him. I dont think he needs to go. Just less game time. If he does go (which i think he most likely will) then that is fine too. You cannot dismiss the fact that Mourinho hasn't played him. If he was playing game in game out as he did with LVG then i'd be a bit bothered with the under par performances but he isn't. The only major things i've heard is the concern with his wages but i heard that they are much of a burden to the club due to sponsorships etc.

Can you blame Mourinho for not playing him? He hasnt been playing like his old self so not much to argue about.There is also his contract. You cannot just release him which means the club would have to pay him out. Might as well use him for squad depth until a club comes knocking in the summer. He still can play and may prove useful to a different club.
