It's got 4 seats, it's a family vehicle.

Wife and I are planning our first child. This will be replaced with an STi. Had a 2004 awhile ago and am getting another (albeit newer). Considered the Focus RS, but the ADM in my area kills it for me. It's bittersweet for sure. Learned quite bit driving it and hope the next owner enjoys it.

Please don't.. I sold my brz and got a wrx because I had a kid. It's a mistake I have never forgotten about, and I've never forgiven myself. I still read the brz forums and this Reddit missing the car. Just please don't be like me; I got rid of my hobby, my little piece of happiness, and my escape all in one moment. Since buying my wife a suv to use we used my car a total of one time, and that was to drive to get food after dropping her car off at the dealer. Don't do it, you need your own escape, your own identity.

Got all worried there for a minute. Thought you were going all minivan on us!

How often are you planning on hauling the kid around in that car where you ALSO need to carry your wife and a second passenger?
Regular front facing seats fit fine... Rear facing seats just eliminate the passenger seat, your wife could still sit behind you. And really, in the grand scheme of life, the rear facing phase is much less than they would be in a front facing seat or especially a booster.
edit check this out:
rear facing seat, plus forward facing seat plus passenger

Came here to say a WRX is a family sedan :p just don't slam it in stiff springs!

Dealer markup.

i would of gone with a WRX, the STI might be too stiff for a family hauler

First kid coming in July myself and I'm gonna hang on to the 86 as long as possible!
Really happy to learn that a good car seat will fit back there, but damn if it won't be a bitch at times.

Family man here. DON'T DO IT.
My wife has a nice 2015 4Runner Trail Edition. I have a 2013 FR-S. We have one kiddo. If the whole family goes somewhere, we take the 4Runner. But ~90% of the time, I'm the only person in my FR-S. The other ~5% it's me and the little one, and the last ~5%, all three of us fit into the FR-S. We make it work out just fine, if anything, we've debated getting a beater 4 door sedan to minimize mileage on our nicer cars.
If you want an STI because they are badass cars, then I say go for it. But I test drove both a 2015 WRX and a 2015 STI, and it's not the same as my beloved FR-S (which is also paid off to boot). It's a big decision, act carefully friend!

I've owned an STi before. An 04. It was my favorite car I've owned. I don't think I'll be too disappointed, but I will miss my BRZ. With that said. They'll be available in the future.
