Why isn't this more widely appreciated? These tests cost 15-30k in most places. Precisely the kind of capital intensive expenditure governments must do instead of selling rice at absurdly subsidised rates.

I've mentioned it in another post also. Till now, almost everything had been free in Delhi government hospitals apart from these radiological investigations. They used to be available at subsidised prices as compared to private labs, but the date was delayed. I would love to see if they have actually made it totally free this time. Let's see how well it is implemented. If the patients can get these investigations and surgeries done within 1 month also through the various government hospitals or public private partnerships, it would be a good reason enough for electing Kejru for a second term.

I'm skeptical because I can't make out the fine print. If I'm reading this right, there seems to be no income qualifier, which is ridiculous. So, technically millionaires could be receiving taxpayer funded MRI scans?

It doesn't matter - having an income verification red-tape is very painful when it's a medical emergency. They can and should accept donations from the affluent.

We're gonna end up doing so many unnecessary tests. Patients relatives aren't satisfied? Do a MRI. Want to make a VIP happy? Do a MRI. They should've kept a token fee of 2k or something. That's what Canada and UK do with medicines to prevent unnecessary burden on the system...

Yes but enough for this plus everything else that the government needs to spend on? It's a great move no doubt, but I'm curious as to how they'll manage the costs

Why not make everything free ? We are in a country which is suffering due to lack of proper infrastructure and idiots like this guy and everyone else want to give away freebies at the cost of tax payers hard-earned money. Just my 2 cents. I welcome the downvotes.

I'm middle class but enjoyed 100 % tax funded education at a Govt college. Yes I had to compete in entrance exams and grades to qualify for it, so evil, I know.

You can get it done for free too. Hell you can even get education loans from the Delhi govt. if you're a Delhi citizen.
