I'm still trying to figure out why advocating for worker ownership of the means of production signals an inability to understand economics.

nothing wrong with advocating for worker ownership as long as you don't mean 'only worker ownership' or 'forcible worker ownership'. =]

Half of all employees are below average (i.e. the top 25% do more than 25% of the work). In a world where all employees own the means of production the lower 50% allow the top 50% to do an increasing proportion of work, while everyone earns equal wage. Eventually everyone does less and less work to ensure they are not in the top 50%.

Because if you take away competition between business then you take away the incentive for people to improve their work or up their production. As a result of this you get horrible productivity, shitty products and poor service and not only do your own citizens stop wanting to spend their money, but nobody in other countries wants to buy your shitty products, so you lose out on trade to free-economy states. The end result: circulation of currency is low within the nation, no money is coming in from other nations, employment and growth stagnates and the country grinds to a standstill.

If the workers want ownership of my company they can pony up some cash and convince me to sell without govt intervention or force used.

Otherwise, that's exactly what's wrong with socialism
