About this project
Florida Saltwater Tournament Fishing is a new board game concept I invented in 1991 while out fishing with a buddy of mine. He was telling me about his latest scores from PAC MAN and PIN BALL from the night before,and me uninterested said to him "there are no games for fisherman"!! Two weeks later I had the concept and a month later I had a playable prototype.
In 1992 I started a company(Smiling Heart Toy and Game Co) to start selling the game. I was able to manufacture 1,000 games, It was all done peace mill, one company supplied the game pieces and dice, one the folding board and one all the cards, money, artwork and printing etc.... All the games were assembled by my self, family and friends,which was quite a project. I was able to whole sale 600 games to Home Shopping Network and retail another 350. H S N offered to take over the project and pay me a % on every $ sold. I did not accept and was never able to raise enough money to manufacture any more games.
Over the years I have been able to develop a great business plan to manufacture and sell the games. There are many company's across the US ready to manufacture the games. I will then sell the games via the internet by way of my own web site and I will set up a both with the Florida Boat Show Circuit. There is at least one show in a different city every month from Pensacola to Miami. I will then go on to whole sale to stores like Walmart, Target, Toy-R-US etc... and I would love to license it to the Florida Lottery to make a scratch off game.
With Kickstarter and Your help I will be able to make this project a success.
Risks and challenges
I think my first and biggest challenge will come when I'm ready to whole sale them to department stores. They will no doubt require large numbers of games and time restraints on contract fulfillment's. Once I achieve this point, I will eventually take on a partner to help pay for the games, or possibly a bank loan. I would like to try to get an investor from Shark Tank to assist with financial support, and expertise in the wholesale, with hopes of them having contact and relationships with the big box stores.
I am starting from scratch and do not have any outstanding projects, or obligations. As far as the distribution of rewards, I will ship a game to each individual that invests twenty five dollars or more out of the first set of games manufactured.Rewards can be shipped once the games are manufactured.
