Cheesedragon117 It could be one of the many applications, yes, but I somehow don't feel a robot would do a better job than an empathic person in taking care of others. Also, humans being what they are, I fear we as a society would only push aside the old and disabled further (because let's be honest, that's what our Western society does in many cases). It would be much more convenient for us knowing that our elders have mechanical caretakers at hand, why bother taking care of them ourselves?
Regarding the Terminator analogy, I also felt like I was witnessing a Terminator on wheels. I don't mean robots wanting to get rid of humans, but humans wanting to get rid of humans. There's already a lot of debate about whether a machine should have the capability to decide by itself to hurt or kill a human being, machines with more and more capabilities will slowly nudge the answer to these ethics quotation on the cost effective side.
Let's not be naive, our society is not and never was ideal, abuses are being perpatred everyday.
Technology should not be blamed but our usage of it must.
