That's the beauty of being on our "side" (I wish there were not sides). We are a coalition. We can agree, and disagree, so long as you come by it honest.

That is how I felt after Ron Paul got f'd in 2012, up until a few weeks after our President announced he was going to run. I was laid up recovering from gut surgery and spent 6 weeks digging, looking for a legitimate reason to hate him. The exact opposite happened.

I've spent a ton of money to be a part of an industry that would rather fail for the sake of political correctness. I can't believe it. It's so disgusting.

I too am in the industry and absolutely love the saltiness and the demise of the Hollywood elite.

"We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield." - Orwell

Many of us that are here, were led here by having this same moment that you experienced tonight. It is brutal to be so invested in something, and love something so much only to see it be flippantly dismissed in the name of something as trivial as feelings. Imagine being a parent who has lost a child at the hands of a illegal alien. Or having a sibling od on heroin that is cheaper that weed in some areas.

It's also puzzling. Social Justice clearly doesn't sell, so why do they keep doing it? My only guess is that some one else is footing the bill.

That question goes to the heart of the matter. Social justice is pretty much liberation theology. We foot the bill in terms of loss of social cohesion and national identity. The real question is, who is benefiting from it?

Anything to help root out the entrenched corruption and make progress towards finally being a meritocracy once again.

The best picture should win. The process should not be corrupted, the scales should not be tilted, and people should be allowed to compete freely, with the best candidate or the best picture coming out on top.

Last year the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite was a thing. There were like no or little minority nominations.

This year, more black people win oscars than ever before. I gave up on the Oscars about a decade ago, when I realized there was always some agenda, some film that the Academy was pushing. So I walked away.

[–]KillaryMust_BTrumpedMN 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

The funny thing is, by the fact of the winners from this year, 2017 Oscars were much more racist than 2016. When you have Tehran praising you, you know you messed up somewhere.

Warren Beatty opened the envelope. Looked at with some confusion. Gave it to Faye Dunaway and she read out "La La Land". Then a producer came on stage after the entire La La Land team was already up there and said a mistake had been made and that "Moonlight" won. It was total BS.

What happened at the Oscars with moonlight and La la land? To my knowledge it was just the wrong card given right? I don't see anything political there unless... Am I missing something?

It was rigged. Very obviously so. Both Beatty and Dunaway looked at the card and read La La Land.

Oh shit, what's the academy's gripe with la la land? Or are they just cresting fake buzz

i guess because it starred white people. I honestly have no idea.

You can obviously see in the video that they read the card for Best Actress, Emma Stone for La La Land. Nothing to see here. No conspiracy. Shit happens. People make mistakes.

Still even if they had a false envelope why would another producer come out on stage in order to announce moonlight? Where did that envelope even come from?

And who opened that envelope that had the "real" winner in it?

If someone just came running out from backstage with an open envelope saying "Moonlight", that's strange.

The whole thing stinks and the entire academy is now in full on damage control mode pushing the official narrative that "Moonlight won." Sound familiar?

Wow. That's a fucking reach. Also downvoted for pointing out the truth. This sub is such a bubble you'd think it was Brooklyn.

There are articles going back years explaining how the process works. Two people from PriceWaterhouseCoopers each bring a set of envelopes, and they stand at the sides of the stage throughout the ceremony. They are supposedly the only people who know the results in advance. The award presenters come on from whichever side and are handed the envelope from the person on that side, and the other PWC person simultaneously opens their envelope off-stage to check that the winner has been announced correctly. You can see the two PWC people, Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, coming out on the stage along with (presumably) the stage manager while the La La Land people are making their speeches. PWC, and Cullinan in particular, have admitted responsibility for the error - it seems that he handed Beatty the already-opened Best Actress envelope by accident.

What's your more plausible explanation anyway? Some guy from the Academy decided to rig the vote after the winner had already been announced? Even though the favorite had won? How come you could see on TV that the envelope said "Best Actress" on it? How come they already had the "Moonlight" card ready for the La La Land producer to hold up to the camera?

Or was there some premeditated plot to switch the envelopes? If so, PWC guy would have had to be in on it, but he's the one who handed over the La La Land card.

I contend it was an illegitimate result. The coincidence of what happened combined with the surprise win for Moonlight is far too convenient to rule foul play out.

Even on the off chance if it was a legitimate vote, it was clearly motivated by political correctness. Time to move on.

I don't care about the wall or the deportations of illegals immigrants. The weed stance has me worried, but if that's the worst thing I guess I'll have to live with it.

I fully support his economic message which I think is extremely important to our country at this time.

I am pretty much right where you are. The economy is my biggest issue that I care about. I personally figure that liberal society doesn't have a chance in hell unless the vast majority of people have expendable income. When it comes to fighting over scraps, all of it goes right out the window, so the economy comes first. We have to have the money before we worry about how nicely to waste it.

We haven't had a trade surplus since 1979. That means the United States of America has never had a year of trade surplus in my entire lifetime.

Welcome aboard the Trump train. In case you still have this long hammered lingering feeling about some of the thing Trump sais just listen to Scott Adams explain the concept of persuasion. The establishment media was going to attack him mercilessly anyway. He blurred the contrast and counter punched. The political business is messy in America today. He is a genuinely good guy otherwise. Ask yourself until he ran for office what was your impression on him? It's so blatant and then you see all your friends online (who if i'm being honest are all liberals) just completely accept the official story of what they're being told and ignoring the big picture. I know it sounds harmless, but it makes you realize how many other instances there are in this world where people just blindly do the same thing.

I quite frankly just can't take it anymore. Are we literally to accept that every facet of our lives is going to be controlled by identity politics? We're not allowed to celebrate movies unless they conform to a certain agenda? It's insanity.

In the last 3-4 years, movies have gone to shit. With exception to a couple films (most of which I didn't see in theaters) there wasn't anything good/memorable.
