I think it's a great idea.

Post Match threads are filled with in the moment emotional responses to the match (not saying that's bad, it's just what happens). It'd be good to have somewhere to have a more considered discussion later.

not to mention just joke comments, while its good to have a laugh a more a serious thread provides better insight and understanding of the match and how we played.

The craziest thing about the jokes is that if they took half a second to look at the other comments they'd see it had already been made 15 times.

There's just too many people shouting their say into the ether on Post Match threads for real discussion too happen. Again, not saying that's bad, they seem happy with it.

I am guilty of post match thread venting, I admit. However, give me a few hours and I'm more level headed. I think this is a good idea.

I am also only level headed a couple hours after the match. That's why i avoid posting on the thread directly after

The post match discussion threads are far too big, that's the problem.

It's extremely hard to get any kind of discussion going unless you make your opening point within 10 minutes of the match ending (because it will buried and barely seen because no one sorts by 'new'), which if you're at the match or just not at a computer is impossible to do.

People should be free to make several different threads after the game to discuss all sorts of different points, making it easier to start interesting discussions. Obviously some mongs will always think their every musing on every topic deserves a thread but hopefully no one will upvote such drivel and we won't have to see them.

So let's say post Burnley game we could take about:

  • Rooney as a DM

  • Herrera actually getting game time

  • Our forwards being shite again

  • Smalling scoring a brace

  • Our painfully slow football

and so on...

As opposed to a front page where we have one gigantic thread to discuss the actual football the team is playing where you can't start discussions because it too big and no one can see your posts then the rest of the front page filled with absolute mindless brain cell destroying shite like Rojo and his kids playing in the snow, Falcao's birthday, Mata's blog, Goals Paul Scholes scored 15 years ago last wednesday, Giggs telling an interviewer that we really want to win the FA Cup (yeah, no shit) and a whole host of newspaper articles with no sources plucked fresh from some hack journalists arse.

Yeah, that's exactly what I've always thought.

The rule is something like "leave all post match discussion to the post match discussion thread"

which is dumb, because nobody actually gets their word in. If there are 1,000 comments, how many will you actually read? 200, 300, max? And you won't sort by new, you'll do top. Anyone who didn't have a witty remark within 5 minutes of the whistle will be buried.

That isn't the rule. Scroll back to previous match days, we always let a couple of threads slide.

Ah, maybe I'm thinking of post match "reactions?" rather than discussion.

We do let that slide. Most games we let a few threads outside of the post match slide as we know that there are massive points from the game that deserve their own thread. That is something we do.

If you don't see any after a game, that's because the ones that have been submitted were useless and non-thought provoking. If someone submitted some good analysis of Rooney as a DM after a game, we will let that go and people are free to use that as an area of discussion for that topic.

That's okay but you shouldn't need to write a dissertation on Rooney at DM just to avoid getting your post deleted.

It should just be a open to discussion topic.

I can't understand why a paragraph post on Rooney as DM which leads to futher discussion would be deleted when posts like these which are complete garbage are left and don't have anything like the same standards applied to them.

Birthday congratulation posts should yield a 7 day posting ban. That's the lowest and cheapest form of karma whoring.

It's not always long posts that stay. Most of the time when posts worthy of further discussion get removed, it's because it's not set out to get more discussion.

A post titled 'Ffs Rooney is crap at CM play Herrera!!' Will get removed. Seems very kneejerk.

A post titled 'Why do you think LVG plays Rooney as a CM and can you see it continuing?' Can stay.

But karma?

Just as an alternative, how about picking a mid-week day when we wouldn't be playing - say Wednesday, and have a stickied weekly discussion about how the team is performing?
Would give a little bump to content and discussions in the mid-week, and be available at a scheduled time, so could be done by a bot?

Just another option, I think either are a good idea.

I think this is a good idea. Tuesday/Wednesday maybe.

a mid-week day when we wouldn't be playing - say Wednesday

Have some optimism! We'll be playing Wednesday nights again before you know it.

I like it. As someone who has been more or less avoiding post match threads for over a year, with a few exceptions, the one stickied right now actually offers thoughtful responses and some interesting discussion.

let's have it

It's a brilliant idea

[–]tammodi/r/breadDevils 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Is this just for our match or matchday discussion in general?

I'd be more than willing to port over the Post Match Thread to a Post Matchday Thread on a regular basis. I'll add some articles and stats and that sort of thing to promote discussion.

I didn't post in the one that's stickied at the moment because I couldn't watch the Burnley match but from what I read in it I really like the idea and would probably be an active contributor to those sorts of threads in the future.

How about a "Tactics tuesday" thread? Where we obviously rant about LvG's game approach, and share insight to what should have been done, and actually get some proper analysis done. Too much shitventing on this sub atm

sure. but it's a shame we're so fucking depressed after most matches these days that we need recovery time before we can talk football

[–]PenPaperShotgunJose Mourinho 0

I like the match day threads. I sort them by newest and read the comments as they come in.

Knee Jerk reactions are always part of a peformance and I actually enjoy reading them to see if my thoughts or others were the same at that time.

I dont want to read 100 comments one day after the patch that are 400 words long written by someone that believes they are the next SAF / tactical fifa genius. I like the explosion of rage and joy. Its fun. Reddit is far to serious sometimes

Really? You like reading the 100 comments in a row saying the same shit?

"We played like shit"

"We were shit"

"Utter shit"

Etc.

There should at least be a rule that you have to mention 1 thing that actually happened in the match and a rule that you can't make a new comment saying something that's already been said 12 times.

Wouldn't people just create their own threads about certain aspects of the game, especially if the game went really bad.

Yes.

During matchday I usually see 2-3x increase in reader which is understandable because people want to discuss the game in match thread but I also suspect there are several troll ABUs in the mix which provides nothing of value. This is on top of the fans' kneejerk reaction if we are not playing well or god forbid we lose the game.

I haven't contributed to the Post Matchday Discussion thread but from what I've seen it has been very productive and people are able to discuss things more seriously without the kneejerk reaction from frustrated fans or internet trolls coming in to mock us.
