SocialismMods:

Associating with 8chan will result in a ban.

Defending creepy objectifying anime will result in a ban.

This is 100% completely uncontroversial....

Nice. Glad the /r/socialism mods get to unanimously decide what is and isn't controversial. They're not only banning people, but practicing mind control too!

This is what happens when you have a vanguard without direct democracy and recall.

      LOL. Yeah.

I think it's fairly easy to make decisions based on the actual participation in your own sub, though. Who cares whether someone "associates with 8chan" so long as they don't bring any of that shit over with them? shrug

I don't think every member of /leftypol/ is irredeemably terrible, although many are. I do think most of them need to ensure that they stay within what people on other sites consider respectable boundaries if they choose to go to other forums (i.e no fucking chan speak).

Fair enough. I get a similar itch whenever people start talking about fucking "Anonymous."

Indeed. Get over it, dudes! 90% of the users on the Internet are here anonymously. When you put on that stupid mask, troll people, and toss "we are legion" crap around all over the place, you somehow manage to act like narcissistic babies despite the anonymity. I can't believe the media has started to pick that shit up. Barf!

Tinfoil hat mode engaged : the mod team are anti socialist that try to make the sub reddit look as bad as possible to disrupt recruitment

            [–]nihilence 7 ポイント8 ポイント  (14子コメント)

Which is why reddit isn't the platform for the left. It inherently requires a vanguard. Ideally, we'd have a platform where there was a technological means to elect mods or something like that. The problem is baked into the system.

It would need to be decentralized as well. We should pay for it with the fee we already pay for Internet, not advertising or any other corporate model.

p.s. such open source projects do exist. i can't remember the names right now but one of them is Diaspora, but it's more like facebook than reddit. consumers didnt seem to like it either.

The community instance that I’m going to launch will have strict moderation, like Hacker News, that will optimize for the quality of the discussion. But anyone can launch their own instance, and that will enable the absolute freedom of speech.

I am going to monetize it by offering easy and effortless hosting, the way Discourse does. That will take care of the development and server costs, while keeping the platform ad-free.

I found three social networks based on the blockchain:

                    https://steemit.com/ https://www.yours.org/ https://www.synereo.com/

Steemit looks like the only one useful to our purposes.

Haha, furries are one of the most sexually liberated and tolerant fandoms I've come across and that comic was SFW from what I've seen. Looks like the Vanguard Party is behaving badly again.

This is clearly just an attempt to push out trans women by banning one of our most treasured cultural practices /s

                        [–]baroqueSpiral 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (1子コメント)

holy shit I'm glad someone mentioned this! an awful lot of transwomen on the internet seem heavily invested in reclaiming anime femininity tropes to the point that I'd be genuinely surprised if the mods didn't know this, and the theoretical issue at stake in the mods' decision already is the validity of voluntary performance of femininity. I mean, the reason people draw catgirls is not their domesticity or animality per se - it's that cats are cute, and some women (like some men, e.g. me) identify with cute things. women are encouraged more than men to aspire to "cuteness", for reasons that are entangled with its basis in animality, domesticity etc. roughly as much as, say, (conventionally feminine) makeup is entangled in sexualization. I've never heard of the /r/socialism mods banning a woman for wearing makeup but who knows. The definition of (internalized) misogyny applied in their decision would be immediately apparent as a weirdly dated second wave one if it wasn't thinly covered by exotification re: "anime".

I don't think reclaiming has anything to do with it. I just think thst some trans women like anime.
