Seems every other week there's some feminist (or women-led) push to end anonymity online or legally punish people for typing wrongthink online. When I was growing up, the biggest draw for the internet (and the reason I knew it was going to be important) was anonymity. We were all protected from being targeted irl and everyone's thoughts and ideas were open to the strictest judgement. Somewhere along the line, though, the internet went from being this stupid thing for stupid nerds to very suddenly being cool. Fuck MySpace and Friendster. Fuck MSN. Fuck Facebook. Fuck the cancer that killed the internet.
The breakdown of anonymity online, in my opinion, directly correlates with feminine narcissism. You don't get your girl advantage online unless everyone knows you're a girl. This is the 'tits or GTFO' angle, and it's, in a way, the opposite of SJW racism: Instead of punishing someone with shame when they can't help but mention they're a girl in text, SJWs look at the person talking and judge them on their appearance, like AIDS Skrillex and his (her?) 'Fucking white male' tantrum.
It used to be that the next big threat to the internet was firewalls and government run censorship. The results of that battle aren't in yet. It used to be that ending neutrality on the net was the biggest threat to the freedom of the internet. That battle is well and truly lost. For some reason people are more than happy to spend a subscription fee for the internet and then another subscription fee on top to view content online. Go figure.
You notice it's never anyone on the political 'right' that do the doxxing? Sometimes it's bored trolls taking advantage of someone behind the 8 ball on internet security (and I guess identity theft was the original dox), but Bearing, Sargon and countless others have been doxxed by liberals who accuse them of wrongthink. Remember Zoe Quinn's Crash Override Network? The Game Journo Pros mailing list? How about /r/shitredditsays? These are the exact same people who want to end anonymity online, and their number one reason to do so is 'for accountability'. To these people I might say "Accountability is exactly as much of a double-edged sword as anonymity" but I guess millennials who didn't see the internet in the early 90s' simply don't understand what it is, how it works, or the first thing about human nature.
These people need to know who's talking before they hear any opinion. Unless that opinion comes from someone higher up on the progressive stack, out the window it goes. The internet threatens whole ideologies, and has directly led to the reforming of a major religion with Christianity. In the liberal utopia, this simply can not happen. Reason and rationality can not stand if those fucking white males are allowed to have a free and open platform for discussion. 4chan used to fight the good fight, but moot was a gutless coward and bent the knee to sniff the ass of progress. The only light in the tunnel I can see is in the YouTube subscriber counts of reactionaries and skeptics compared to the subscriber counts of the biggest feminists. This shows me that people aren't listening to leftists anymore, but whether the internet will survive or even remain free, is totally up for grabs.
There's no insight here, no solutions, I'm probably saying shit you guys already know, but that's my peace. I'm always open to discussion. Share your thoughts below and maybe together we can think of something.
