Yes mate. I'm 32 and started learning BJJ 3 months ago. The people there are really friendly. Our class typically consist of 40 min warmup, 40 min drills and 40 min sparring. Depending on your class you may be expected to spar on your first lesson (I had to). That said, more experienced people will train you instead of spar, especially if you ask them to. I got a purple belt to show me an armbar on my 3rd lesson, was awesome.

Aside from that, I don't have much else to say, except its been an awesome experience so far. Im a small guy and a lot of the guys in my class are heavyweights, but they are careful with me lol. As a final aside, be ready for a lot of close contact, sweat (not just your sweat) and bizarre stretches and body positions that you've never done before.

Enjoy sir!

Ps. Learn what shrimping is before you go, you'll probably have to shrimp across the mats as part of the warmup and it takes weeks to learn.
