Why isn't the final on national television? (self.reddevils)

I don't understand why the league cup isn't being shown on national tv rather than sky sports. This is one reason why the league cup isn't held in as high regard. Can you imagine if the world cup was only available on subscription channels? Viewership would plummet and there would be a whole less love for the competition.

Because as you said, it isn't a national treasure like the FA CUP and World Cup. It's the fifth most important competition for an English club in the Premier League.
