The good news is that he now has more time for more productive things than arguing with /r/btc.

I never did understand why he both trolled and engaged in other trolls there or anywhere else.

I know he has to put up with a lot of shit on Reddit and social media in general, but that is par for the course for any high profile person. He needs to be smarter about how he engages people.

Real constructive. At least he took the time to "argue" while you stay holed up in your protected environment here on /r/bitcoin, refusing to acknowledge other points of view.

[–]srstriggererredditor for 1 month [スコア非表示]  (7子コメント)

true, those people should be treated like the monkeys they are. you don't waste your time arguing with apes.

Please, let's be good to each other. Attacking our neighbor only hurts us long term.

The amount of name calling on both sides is ridiculous at this point, it's no wonder the two camps can't come to a compromise.

[–]btcTworedditor for 7 days [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Because the rbtc camp consists of monkeys? Not the intelligent ones though. The other ones. The ones that can't be reasoned with because they lack the intellect to do anything else but fling feces.

Probably because one side is smarter than the others...

[–]-Hayo- [

Well somebody needs to correct the lies they spread. :P

But I agree with you, taking into consideration the downvote manipulation they have at /r/btc it’s pretty useless to argue with them. Nobody is going to notice anyway.

It’s also much easier to spread a lie or a conspiracy on the internet than it is to correct that very lie.

So it’s probably best if Greg puts his time to better use.

Ever heard of the saying "don't feed the trolls"?

It's true. The exposure of his comments to true Bitcoin followers is low, therefore it's not worth the efforts. The exposure of him to the tox is high, therefore not being in the situation should help with his general well-being and benefit Bitcoin's development.

This is getting ridiculous. He had to post a signed message to prove the signature was valid and it's being called doxxing.

Anyone have any idea how we can contest this? This is not good for Bitcoin.

[–]petertoddPeter Todd - Bitcoin Expert [スコア非表示]  (8子コメント)

He had to post a signed message

More than that, Soupernerd, told him to do exactly that!

And now that Soupernerd is claiming on twitter the whole thing was a setup we know that he knew when Gregory Maxwell said he'd post a "cryptographically signed message, authored by the original SouperNerd offering to sell his account and all linked accounts" Soupernerd knew it was that email.

So why are we banning Gregory over this?

@petertoddbtc 3 mins to send an email. 4 months of relaxing. 2.2 seconds of prodding. Entire time he thought it was his idea... Priceless.

Anyone who understands what's being said at bitcointalk should be fine with sticking with core.

Bad for Bitcoin!? Greg's reddit account/activity should have no effect on bitcoin.

He didn't have to post anything. As I said a couple of days ago, if Greg was truly "concerned" about the behaviour of a moderator and had some degree of evidence that the mod may have sold their account, he could have sent this information to the reddit admins or the rbtc mod team.

He had to post his proof (and get himself banned for doxing... Again) because he chose to use the situation to stir up as much drama and conflict on rbtc as he possibly could.

It doesn't matter for Bitcoin. Bitcoin has grown beyond Reddit. Perhaps find a different forum for Bitcoin discussion. Like I dunno, steemit, and actually support the use of block chain technology in other facets of life.

    [–]IAMA_Jewish_Princess [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

You know who else should be banned from reddit? /u/spez for changing user comments in a fit of man-child rage. But thats excusable since he is the CEO, doesn't matter that he's a douchebag.

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

What the hell does that have to do with this topic

In fact, that is what democracy means. But what does democracy have to do with any of this?

But I thought everybody has equal intelligence?

[–]btcTworedditor for 7 days [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Au contraire! Everyone has the equal and unmeasurable large amount of stupidity. It's just by coincidence or unfathomable effort that, every now and then, an individual has a flash of genius and manages to shit out something intelligent.

[–]Bellviewtownredditor for 11 days [

At this stage, is there any platform Greg hasnt been banned from?

    Worrying theme here.

Don't say it's not his fault... just like when he was banned on Wikipedia, it is.

can someone give me a synopsis? who are these people and why does this matter?

A couple of opposing Devs and it doesn't matter

Time to build a decentralized reddit from which he cannot be banned.

Without moderation it would be 99.9% trash (think zerohedge or your local stock market chat but way worse). Who could moderate fairly? Not someone who wants to. Maybe the moderation task nees to rotate often.

Protection from sock puppets and sybil resistance. The sybils can be AI:s that repost old posts and memes, i.e. indistinguishable from the average longterm redditor.

You're your own worst moderator. Self moderation? Maybe pre-Savechecking every post, if AI says "risky" you attach some bits/monetary value that becomes payment to the platform if your post broke some rules. Reddit is already cheap to manipulate (was it $200 to get fake news to reliably stay up on the front page?) so it's might be worth it to have less power tripping moderators.

Otherwise; AI is probably already strong enough to create a multiverse of reddits. Everybody gets to see the comments and votes that would they want to see, nobody disappoint. Google doesn't dare to build "EPIC", but someone will, soon enough.

What is getting displayed also cannot be centralized.

You need to have a network of trust (e.g. built automatically based on what you upvote). And moderation happens based on weights from your network. So in the end based on who they upvote and downvote different people will see different messages. If the network is well built e.g. by adding manual connections of people who you 100% trust or people who you consider to be spammers, sock puppets end up in their own bubbles loosely anchored to those who found their content valuable.

It is a very hard problem. There will be legit accounts that were sold (which you could cut off from your network if you are aware of that). But it is doable.

Well this is annoying. /users/nullc was a daily browsing destination. Always insightful.

So, let me get this straight. You believe that the guy you're speaking to on reddit is a vigilante hacker who beats juniper firewalls to a pulp with his bare hands at night, and your plan is the blackmail this person?

No, obviously not. Its a disinformation campaign. And they are winning if they are getting people like greg banned.

r/btc continue to expose themselves as the virus they are. They're just liars and manipulators, but hopefully their own actions are exactly what helps people to decide to ignore their hostile attack on Bitcoin and that's why it'll never gain any real support.

Roger Ver is a real dirty scumbag and he proves it time and time again, he literally wants to control whatever he wants and if he doesn't get his way then he'll set out to destroy it. If these people actually think a community of Bitcoiners will let them take control of Bitcoin, they're insane

[–]ICheckedOutredditor for 17 days [

[that subreddit] continue to expose themselves as the virus they are. They're just liars and manipulators

So lemme get this straight. A guy who is banned from that subreddit bamboozled nullc into getting banned site-wide, and so that subreddit is liars and manipulators? Or did you mean to refer to yourself in that second part?

OMG Greg Maxwell got banned from Reddit, SELL SELL SELL!

You don't seriously think the price correction is related to this, do you? LOL.

Put the chart on 6H and then tell me its falling. This has nothing to do with the speculation that is going on right now due to ETF announcement.

The reality is Greg is the reason Bitcoin development is splt so less of his presence here on Reddit is a good thing.

Competent Bitcoin Development has more contributors than ever, I don't see it very split so I'd call that misinterpreted. A bunch of bad patches on some repo don't really make it split.

you find it so easy to just write outright lies that you have no proof of, it's just so easy to spout lies for you is it? How about you provide proof to your claim? The reality is you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about. You're just another perfect example of the vermin that inhabit r/btc ignore facts and post lies.

You and your boss are the reason of the split.

it couldnt be more ridiculous. we just need more quality journalistic work putting everything together at the same time to show the people whats really behind BU. i mean how can a reddit admin really take anyone from /btc seriously and do anything what he/she suggests or demands if he knows what's going on.

Why is he permanently banned again? That post you linked to gave no explanation

Also the biggest mistake anyone can do is give anyone in rbtc attention.

If you want to say something on reddit, do it on r/bitcoin

If you want to say something on reddit, do it on r/bitcoin

If you're allowed that is, of course...

Follow the guidelines and you will be fine

Thats pretty much what /u/dnivi3 is saying. There are things that are not accepted here and that get discussed elsewhere.

Can't he use a different account?

Well it's not that hard to create a new account, the r/btc crowd does it all the time.

It might be possible to petition reddit to unban Greg.

And my rising 27% Segwit support, falling 18% big block support, and stable 55% leave it as it is support.

Maybe nullc's legacy on reddit, like Boromir's on the shores of Anduin, will be the defeat of the BU orcs before his reddit death.
