Explain the fact that Qantas flies from Auckland, New Zealand to Santiago Chile in under 12 hours. On the flat earth map, that would mean the plane is going about Mach 2.

Has New Zealand been proven to be real though? I personally have never been there, or known anyone who has, and it doesnt appear on any of my maps...

If NZ isn't real, where did Peter Jackson film those Tolkien movies? Where does he keep his giant sacks of cash?

Nice try, im not that far gone. The movie was shot on set, think about you never hear anything about NZ, not in the olymoics or anything, I think people just mistake the Australian islands for a separate country

My GF and I are probably going to honeymoon there.

If you are not, your school system is failing you.

This one is 100% troll. We don't get the actual stupidity we used to get on this thread anymore, unfortunately.

The winds you feel are because of earth's spherical shape. Explain that. That's the whole purpose of the Coriolis Effect!

Why does the angular size of the sun not change throughout the day. If it was 30-40 miles in diameter at a height of 2500-4000 miles it should change in angular size drastically throughout the day.

Ah yes, I will again reference Minecraft. In the game, the sun goes directly up and down (no angles, or slant in direction.)

In this instance my views differ from a typical flat earther, I actually believe there are 2 suns, while one is up, the other moves under the earth, before coming up again on the opposite side, whilst the other sinks below our view, and that continues in a solar cycle

Still doesn't answer the question about why the Angular size of the sun does not change throughout the day.

The sun itself changes sizes to accommodate to it's distance from earth, an evolutionary trait to keep the sun from burning us alive (my theory on how dinosaurs died)

This is by far my favourite response to this question from any flat earther.

    Thanks. Saving this one.

    First off - wow.

Secondly, can you please prove that the Sun indeed changes its angular size throughout the day? No, please don't link me to a Youtube-video where the person filming doesn't have a filter on his lens. You see, the reason people think that the Sun grows as it rises, is because while it's near the horizon, less light reaches the camera. As it sets, too much light enters the lens, causing lensflares and overexposure. This makes the Sun look bigger.

If you want to prove that the Sun changes its size, you must use a filter to block the lens from excessive light. What we want to see, is the sharp edge of the Sun, like you'd typically see when the Sun is at the horizon.

We want to see this not this.

If you can show us that the Sun changes its size using this method, we'll start looking into your model.

The sun evolved? What... Did it have sun sex to adapt to its environment?

There will be no convincing you for two reasons.

    First

Second, based on your responses I have seen so far, you just don't have the ability to comprehend rational thought. Otherwise you would know that the flat earth theory is utterly ridiculous. And that you do the species a disservice by hanging onto outdated foolishness that has long since been debunked. And the only reason you will not accept the evidence at hand is because you do not want to.

There is no need to provide evidence as there is more than ample evidence out there, which you flat earthers discount despite it being a billion times more rational and provable than anything you could provide.

There is no reason to provide evidence because you will not believe it, no matter what.

Okay then... Tell me why NASA would want to make us think that the earth is round? Why would they invent a force called gravity and create a whole massive perfect system just to make people think the earth is flat.

Also, why would it be flat? It feels like an absolute negation of all the theories that led us to this discovery. Why?

I have been North of the Arctic circle, South of the tropic of cancer, and on the equator. I have seen the midnight sun in AK, and watched the same sun pass directly over my head on the Equator during the equinox. These lines of latitude are significant because the represent the effects of a round Earth with a tilted axis orbiting the sun. This tilt (in relation to Earth's orbit around the sun) is also what causes the seasons.

Check out this video: https://youtu.be/rcquRMaVSKU Just set aside your conspiracy theories for a moment and imagine that what it says is accurate. Now, if the demonstration of the video was actually accurate, what would it look like from Earth? What kind of evidence could you observe, outside of the influence of round or flat Earthers, that would prove or disprove this theory? Could this be the explanation for the seasons?

One last question: what makes the stars in the night sky move and why do they travel in the same direction and same rate as the sun? You can watch the movement in this beautiful video: https://youtu.be/nam90gorcPs

I'm certainly not a genius, but I am able to objectively evaluate evidence and can identify conjecture. There's much we don't know about this universe. But we have science to thank for what we do know. It's a shame that we live in a time with such vast knowledge and understanding yet there are people that scream and shout that it's all a giant elaborate hoax because they don't understand it, or simply cannot let go of their delusions when presented with valid evidence against it. These people are the idiots I speak of and they're free to say whatever they want across the interwebs. Sigh.
