I have what is feel is a legitimate question in the age of Facebook. With the understanding that "science" neither believes nor dismisses the idea of a "god:", how do you believe that Jesus is the son of god and that a human being,a mere mortal, can die and become the ruler over the known infinite universe(s) and Earth? The idea of a human becoming a god is about as antiquated as anything the Greeks and the Romans ever suggested. So, without a shred of evidence (dismissing the Vatican "re-frames" of sucking off choir boys), how do you justify that you are not completely and totally nuts? A man dies and becomes King of the universe. Wow, that's a stretch. You have to be a complete and total freak to believe that shit. My point here is the lunatics have taken over the asylum, again. They listen to Jesus and not logic.Your democracy is over.Wanna save it? Lock and load! You backward Christian pieces of shit, prepare to be educated.. Lock and load!

Victor Marker The initial push into America was by various freaks. There were the religious freaks and the freaks of greed (who had no qualms about enslaving entire races in perpetuity in exchange for profit.) I would argue that our most revered government institutions and protections came from those who came later, who were neither wedded singly to religion or greed, but to practicality. People who were inspired to improve their own lives and the lives of their fellow men, but who were not doggedly religious, anti-religious, or anti-greed. Certainty in one's righteousness and impatience with stupidity is the road to war and ashes.

Victor Marker For better or worse, the masses of humanity respond most enthusiastically to hearing & telling good stories rather than ensuring their stories are true. I'm hoping you've been exposed to the writings of George Lakoff. If not, check them out. I'm heartened to see that some Dems aspiring to power have really absorbed the lesson that truth goes nowhere in the social or political spheres unless accompanied by compelling stories and good PR. In a recent Slate interview with Dahlia Lithwick, Tom Perriello (running for gov of VA) stated: "Some liberals dismiss faith as part of the problem. Pluralist faith leadership inspires us to find the best of the role of spirituality and universal moral values while limiting the frequency with which it is used to otherize and divide. In general, the progressive movement has a tendency to be all logos and no mythos, and it is true that American conservatives overcorrect in the other direction. But the art and culture we celebrate on the left draws heavily from the truth of mythos, and we are wrong to dismiss this space. It is part of why we tend to err towards policy depth over narrative. We see this too often as intellectually more sound, but only within a narrow framing of intellect. Policy and decisions should be based on evidence, but our values and our story come from a deeper place."

Marshall O'Boy
Marshall O'Boy Victor, you're a darling man for taking the time to so eloquently answer my drunken ramblings. I don't disagree with your statements. I just question the rationality of anybody who believes a human being can become a deity. Isaac newton was a brilliant man. He was also devoutly religious, considered a nutcase and corrupt. Fortunately we could separate the science from the neuroses. Speaking for myself, if anyone can believe in those kinds of utter fantasies, other decisions that they make are not necessarily incorrect but they are suspect. Anybody who believes the Bible literally is standing on thin logical ice. When a person shows the capacity of completely kissing reality goodbye I would rather not see these folks in a position of power. Ones believing that a man can become a god is a fabulous litmus test for this. Alarms should go off as to the rationality of their thinking.

Robert Yanal
Robert Yanal In orthodox Christian theology, the son and the father (i.e. Jesus and God) are co-eternal. That is, Jesus always was God. Hence he didn't "become" the ruler of the universe, as he always was.

Jamie Michelle
Jamie Michelle Hi, Marshall O'Boy. I wrote this under my legal name: James Redford, "The Physics of God and the Quantum Gravity Theory of Everything", Social Science Research Network, Sept. 10, 2012 (orig. pub. Dec. 19, 2011), doi:10.2139/ssrn.1974708, https://archive.org/.../ThePhy.../Redford-Physics-of-God.pdf . My foregoing article concerns the advent when technology becomes advanced enough to convert our human brains into artificial computer hardware (i.e., at the cellular level, such as by using nanobots), at which point we will be technologically immortal; and due to the vast amounts of computational resources at that time, we will also be superintelligent. The leading technologists place this epoch circa 2045, although it can come much sooner, particularly given the incredible recent advancements in machine-learning Artificial Intelligence via artificial neural networks. Said epoch is often termed the Singularity, or the Technological Singularity, and the field of interest pertaining to it is most commonly called transhumanism.
