he's saying if you have most of your personal wealth in bitcoin (due to its recent price rise), be sensible. don't put all your eggs in one basket. this quote is general investment advice, which i believe is credited to warren buffett.

I'm well aware of the quote and its meaning, as it has been regularly bandied about in the Bitcoin subreddits for years now. I am asking for clarification on why Roger felt that now is an appropriate time to remind us of the quote; it seems to me that there is a great deal of upside potential for Bitcoin in the short term, and that right now it makes more sense to lean towards "greed" rather than "fear" because we have just breached the standing all-time-high and historically this has always foreshadowed exponential growth.

This tweet seems to indicate that Roger disagrees, and feels that "this time, it's different" (presumably because of Core's Capacity Roadmap). He appears to be recommending to sell bitcoins and divest at these price levels, whereas I would think it makes more sense to be buying here.

this time is not different. something that goes up fast can do down fast. i don't think the trading advice is any more specific than that. the main point of the tweet was to point out core has no solutions.

this is general investment advice from warren buffett. it applies to all investments not just bitcoin. it means that if everyone is greedy and thinks bitcoin will only continue to rise, you would be prudent to be a bit skeptical.
