SECRET REUNION IN CARFAX LODGE, the first book of the YIFFING IN HELL trilogy, is more than a labour of love for me. It is my spirit itself, alive and kicking, on paper. The product of more than six years of arduous work, I can say without shame that I built myself as an adult around it. In it you will find a marriage of contemporary art, plain old fashioned art-art, and illustration. Film and music, literature and poetry are woven together in it.
This is the story of LAWLE, an artificial being, conceived, (not directly created) by mankind. He steals a world for his girl, and makes it so that all stories are their story. A maneuver similar in spirit to Jeff Koon´s recent series "Gazing Ball" in that it has somewhat megalomaniac goals; to span and conquer culture and language as whole, for love.

We all experience omnipotence, the ultimate technological feat, every night when we dream. We build entire worlds and place ourselves in numerous roles within them. While we chase after utopia all day in the waking world, we get to directly experience our deepest wishes in a tangible way at night, unbound, limited only by our imagination and the desires that fuel it themselves. In dreams I´ve perceived colors beyond the spectrum the human eye can see, and I´ve inhabited two bodies at once, in dreams the impossible can take place.
In this first volume, a first step is taken to fulfill the prophecy spoken near the end of "The Neverending Story"(my favorite book and a huge source of inspiration for this project). The goal is to fuse the world of fantasy with the real world and create a golden age, a new way to be and perceive time, culture, purpose... This product will install new organs in your body. They will allow you to see and inhabit said golden age, and make it a tangible thing on this earth. (A Videodrome sort of deal)
SECRET REUNION IN CARFAX LODGE was greatly influenced by William Gibson´s cyberpunk novels, Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive etc. It explores, as I´ve said, the idea of technology blurring the line between reality and dream/fantasy. I started working on it around a time that I become seriously interested in art-art (coming from being an avid reader of fiction and a comic book, animation and videogame fan). I made a conscious effort to include in my work as many different schools of thought and artistic currents as I could, but instead of forcing them to say what I want to say, I let them have at it freely (this was a pretty tricky thing to achieve).
This book has elements from many many sources, it´s meant to be tackled in an active way. I can´t stress this enough. This is not entertainment, this is a puzzle. My sincere hope is that you will enjoy delving into each choice since I put a lot of thought and care into every little element, and sought not to censor the incredible fertility that results from isolating a part of a larger culture/story/picture/language. The decontextualized grain not only holds the entire world it was extrated from; it suggests countless others. Hopefully you agree that I managed to combine fragments from extremely different sources into one piece, while preserving that magical sense of endless possibility. A fluid hierarchy, a work totally free from ideology, yet celebrating every possible idea. I strive to emulate the feeling of strenght and freedom you get when reading Nietzsche, instead of the "everything crumbles away in my hands" desperation that is typical of most postmodern thought.
The story of LAWLE and GAURAN, two robot werewolves, two parasites in love, is to a great extent autobiographical. It´s all about how I have learned to stop worrying and enjoy the world, enjoy myself, enjoy my girl. There´s a warm human pulse in here, rest assured. Lots of blood and gore also.

You can also take a look at a "reference guide" of sorts I have assembled. It will give you an idea of how this is built and the extreme density that informs the colorful surface. My solemn vow is to reward inquisitive minds that go into the book in an active way with vast continents to explore (people with less time on their hands will still have lots of weird sleek colorful fancies to skim through). Just to be clear, this isn´t about conspiracy theories, I don´t subscribe to the belief of a particular "grand scheme" or any such thing, my interest is art.
The funds you pledge will be used to pay for the printing and shipping of the book. My main goal with this is to build a name as an author and share my vision with as many people as I can. The profit will be minimal, what matters to me is that you get a shinny treasure in your doorstep and that you fall in love with it.
Another thing: Althought it represents a heavier investment, I would reccomend those that can afford it to get both True and False editions of the book ("Gone Gone Utterly Beyond" level). They are almost identical yet completely opposite. I am confident you will agree; when combined with the True edition, the False one more than doubles the value of the work, and thus easily justifies the extra cost. It´s a way to transform what is usually a despicable commercial trick into profound artistic gesture (hoho) and allow you to give further emphasis to your approval of my efforts.
Risks and challenges
The book is finished and everything is set to go with the printing people and a fulfillment service in USA. I´ve done my homework and carefully calculated the costs and potential sources of trouble. I am very particular about quality, I´ve done extensive testing and reading in order to bring you a product that you´ll be delighted to own. The big challenge is getting the word out, something you can help out with in a big way. If you know people you think might be interested in SECRET REUNION IN CARFAX LODGE please tell them about it. Some emotional blackmail might be necessary to coax them into a pledge; "if you really loved me, you would help me fund this" etc. You should be prepared to go to extreme lenghts for the cause.
