There's a guy who takes care of custodial tasks at my job, who also happens to be special needs. He can live on his own and hold a job but his childhood left him really damaged in many ways. So I always knew that he had girl problems but what I learned this morning has me pretty upset. He's in his mid 40's and always wanted a girlfriend. Apparently he's been on dating sites and he emails pretty much every female on there. Well, long story short, at least a couple times a year these women scam him out of $50 or more when the meet for a "date". One teenage girl got him for $150 so far, and the last "date" he handed her the money she literally ran away. His most recent escapade, he had traveled over three hours for a "date" and the woman took everything he had and he had to have someone from work come to bring him money to get home. It's pretty low of these female vultures to take advantage of him. There's more to the story but just wanted to share that women on dating sites have no problem with taking advantage of a man who is clearly special needs.
