The disputatious figure was also booked, then removed, as the keynote speaker at the Washington conference CPAC, which is set to welcome President Trump on Friday.

Milo Yiannopoulos' invitation to deliver the keynote address at this week's Conservative Political Action Conference, known as CPAC, has been rescinded. On Tuesday, Breitbart News, where he was a contributor, severed ties as well.

"Due to the revelation of an offensive video in the past 24 hours condoning pedophilia, the American Conservative Union has decided to rescind the invitation of Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference," read a statement from ACU chairman Matt Schlapp on Monday.

A newly posted video from a 2016 episode of "The Drunken Peasants" podcast features Yiannopoulos discussing his own sexual abuse as a teen. During the podcast, he does not appear to condemn similar relationships between children and men.

Yiannopoulos took to his Facebook page Sunday night to say, "I do not support pedophilia. Period. It is a vile and disgusting crime, perhaps the very worst. There are selectively edited videos doing the rounds, as part of a coordinated effort to discredit me from establishment Republicans, that suggest I am soft on the subject."

He went on to list several examples from his career as a right-wing journalist to prove that he is "completely disgusted by the abuse of children" if it comes across that he meant any of the "ugly things" alleged in the video.

"We realize that Mr. Yiannopoulos has responded on Facebook, but it is insufficient. It is up to him to answer the tough questions and we urge him to immediately further address these disturbing comments," Schlapp continued in the statement. "We initially extended the invitation knowing that the free speech issue on college campuses is a battlefield where we need brave, conservative standard-bearers."

The statement went on to say that the ACU gives "great thought" as to who is invited to speak, but that the "CPAC platform is not an endorsement of everything a speaker says or does."

It added, "There is no disagreement among our attendees on the evils of sexual abuse of children."

Yiannopoulos, a controversial figure known as a harsh critic of Hollywood liberalism, was tapped as the keynote speaker at the the Washington gathering, The Hollywood Reporter revealed over the weekend.

Yiannopoulos, who was to be given the most stage time of the 100 speakers, had told THR his CPAC presentation would focus on his "experiences in America battling feminists, Black Lives Matter, the media, professors and the entertainment industry.”

President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the event on Friday.

Recently, Yiannopoulos made headlines for his appearance on HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher — where he criticized Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman and Lena Dunham and addressed his well-known problem with actress Leslie Jones — and for his college tour, where liberal students routinely try to shut down his events through protesting.
