Because venting is okay, self-reflection later on is even better.

Because the overwhelming masses are all sitting on the falling bar, and our internal desire is to raise the bar. Atlas is not even half as strong as needed to force the bar up.

What a dilemma, the effects of rapid tech growth and instant communication has consumed most and left people without self-reflection, only external reflection or reflection from behind the prison bars of their own ego.

Edit: Your lifestyle does not mean you are sitting on the bar being dead weight. What I mean is being unmoving in ideology, stuck in their (liberal) narrative. Crab mentality. Going with trends/"the stream" But you can certainly make more impact as you are idling, and that's okay.

You have a good point. I think people sometimes just like to complain. Plus life can always be better, and some people choose to focus on that rather than how their life is already enjoyable. People will always complain as long as things are not perfect.

Why do people complain about the direction of society? Could be due to vexing morals and value systems. Some others for various reasons like venting and coping. But it is a genuine concern to worry about the next generation. If we are going to be living for another 20, 40, 60 or 80 years then it is useful to watch trends.

Keep in mind, some men here have children and are likely concerned about the world they will grow up in. For those of us without kids, it's much easier to not have a stake in society. Either way, nobody is going to be escaping the changes coming next decade or after that. There is a lot to learn in those threads commenting on society, even if they seem like circle jerks at times. Some want to prepare, others to glory in society burning all around us and it is fascinating itself.

Me personally, I like to watch trends so I can potentially extrapolate consequences down the road and get an idea of what's going to change and how fast.

Men used to be the one working 6 days and 70 hours a week to support their family. Men used to be the one being draft to loose their life protecting their family. Men used to be the last exiting when a building was on fire, or the boat was sinking, etc...

What do you mean "used to" men still are!
