TL:DR I want Fallout to mix with Hitman
Want to kill a quest target surrounded by guards without raising the alarm? Then prepare to shoot someone, run away for 30 seconds, then rinse and repeat.
It would be cool if I could take the clothes of a dead enemy and use it to waltz right into the enemy commander's office where I proceed to du,p the bucketloads of Rat Poison I'm carrying into their can of purified water and his plate of brahmin meat.
I mean look at the first Radiant Quest in FO4. It says "clear out Corvega Assembly Plant" but all you have to do is kill the Raider leader there. I guess the settlers assume a dead leader will make the rest clear off.
Such a mission could be so much more exciting if FO4 had mechanics somewhat like: * Enemies patrol in a cycle pattern. * Wear all the armor of a group and they won't shoot you unless you shoot them first. * There are 3 enemy types. Grunt, Officer and Leader. Officers can see thru Grunt Disguises. Leaders can see through Officer Disguises. * In the Leader's office is a can of purified water/plate of Brahmin meat they occasionally drink/eat from. Food and water is around the building that different minions eat from. * You can put poison into it, and they will die the next time they eat.
On a side note, there are actually multiple Raider groups in the Commonwealth with their own minions, backstories and leaders. It would be nice to see different clothes for each Raider group.
Your thoughts? Would you like some Hitman-esque mechanics in a future Fallout?

They actually did this in New Vegas pretty well. Could definitely be expanded on

Yeah, and the restrictions kept it from being too powerful. For example:
-If an hostile NPC sees you put on a disguise for their faction, they remain hostile anyway.
  • If, for example, an NCR trooper sees you running around in Legion gear, they try to kill you even if you have a good rep with them. If you take the disguise off, they keep trying until you escape.
-Some high level NPCs (Legion and NCR officers, for example) could see through your disguise, so you'd have to avoid them.
These restrictions made disguises a valuable tool without it becoming the only tool you'll ever need.

Well I mean that example makes sense. If you saw someone running around with your mortal enemy's outfit and then take off his clothes and switch into a normal set, you might keep shooting.

And it was very useful if you were doing a legion playthrouth since the majority of the game is NCR.

Really? I can't think of any time what you wear does anything at all besides guards having different dialogue

Why not just play Hitman then?

Already do. But I would love to see similar mechanics in Fallout.

I really don't, the sneaking options we have are enough. I mean, I like Hitman games, have played them all, but Fallout is not Hitman.

exactly, no point in merging two games.
Maybe for a single quest, but if you did it for the entire game some people would use it as a cop out. "Oh shit! Talon Merc hit squad, let me throw on my disguise." "Legion raiding party camp, crap, good thing I have a disguise!" It takes away from the game if you make it widely used like OP is suggesting.

Arizona Killer in NV.

Yeah, but I would love more missions like these. Quests like these could start as contracts found on a noticeboard.

"On a side note, there are actually multiple Raider groups in the Commonwealth with their own minions, backstories and leaders. It would be nice to see different clothes for each Raider group."
I've been wondering this myself. The Forged are the only raiders to have a unique "uniform" but they're more like a cult than the other raiders. I think Red's raider group could at least wear flannels and red bandanas, and the Norwegian ghouls aboard the FMS Northern Star could be wearing regular clothes + metal armor, since they're not even technically raiders. Lots of missed opportunities for diversity, considering not all raiders are gonna wear the exact same armor style. Where are they even getting those yellow flight helmets?
