Comments from Mourinho's post-match interview and press conference:

Thoughts on the Result

"The attitude of every player was really good and with a different attitude we would lose, because I think Blackburn were a good team. They were better than Blackburn of the Championship. They had an amazing attitude and amazing belief. They gave us a really hard match and, I repeat, with a different attitude then I think we would have lost the match. So I am really happy with my players."

Well Played Pogba and Ibrahimovic

"When I have really important players on the bench then I can try to make an impact. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but it depends also on their mentality. Of course I spoke to Paul and Zlatan at half-time. In the moment of need they were more than ready to come with the right attitude for the team. So I am happy with the victory. We deserved to win. Blackburn probably deserved to go to Old Trafford but this way is better for them as now they can focus on a very difficult Championship."

Praise for the Fans, Referees… And a Ball Boy!

"We have amazing fans, absolutely amazing. I am so sorry that in the Premier League they do not have so many tickets for away matches. I think also the referees were so calm and cool. They had everything under control. The ball boy on my right side was brilliant. He is a clever kid!"

Reaction to the Draw

"I have no reaction because I have to play Saint-Etienne and the final and hopefully another opponent in the Europa League. I have to fight for a top-four position in the Premier League so I have so many things to think about. Probably Chelsea can only think about that [the FA Cup] because I think they are champions and they have nothing else to play for so the FA Cup is something important for them. The match is in one month's time and I don't want to speak about it now."

Still can't see how Shaw doesn't get any minutes whatsoever , it's not like I'm asking him to start against City or something.

When Martial or Miki didn't play we actually had capable replacements who weren't that bad , with Shaw.. we don't. Rojo isn't that good there, neither is blind , Darmian is the worst of them all.

Wednesday MUST be the chance he gets ? As close to a dead rubber game as you are going to get...

These games are never easy but our defending has been suspect the past few games. I think we could argue that the first leg in the EL was because the midfield was all wrong so the defence was exposed but individual mistakes from all the defenders recently will be punished if we play top teams like Chelsea did to us.

Don't like Smalling in defence he just makes me feel nervous, not a fan of Darmian and Sergio Romero is too hot and cold for me. A lot of people saying we don't need a centre back in the summer but I personally feel we do but obviously only if they're better than what we have which I'm not sure some of the players we've been linked with will be.

A few individual poor performances for me that stood out:

Darmian was pretty poor again, he just seems to be beaten far too easily now by players and, after he has been beaten, seems to not particularly give a shit about recovering and making the second tackle. Agree with others who say Shaw should have been given this game.

Smalling was largely poor too. Won some big defensive headers but also, especially in the first half, misjudged the flight of the ball or lost his man far too easily and their goal was an example of the latter. He's really lost a lot of his confidence and it doesn't feel like currently he should be the partner to Bailly that we build the future of this defence on.

Overall I didn't feel we played that well. At one point towards the end of the first half we took complete control and I was waiting for us to start creating the chances that'd lead to a 3-1 or 4-1 type win but second half they came out quicker than us.

Credit to Blackburn - they're obviously struggling and have some awful owners but raised their game to play against us and did more than enough to, on another day, get a different result. Emnes played really well against us too, as did Graham and Feeney.

Anyway onwards now to St Etienne. Hopefully a dead rubber tie that sees some players (like Shaw) given a chance and allow us to continue resting players ahead of the final on Sunday.

Didn't get to see the match, how was Martial?
