League form vs cup form (self.reddevils)

Throughout the season , I m sure other fans besides me have noticed the disparity between our league form and cup form, so I decided to go through the stats and excuse me if I may have missed some details here and there but in 14 cup games so far United have scored 35 goals and conceded only 8. More importantly united scored 3 goals in a match on at least 7 occasions. Compare this to the league form where we have scored 38 but in 25 games, so it took us 11 more games just to score 3 more goals and we conceded 21 goals which is still means 0.84 goals compared to 0.57 in cup games. This seems strange as we mostly except cup games to be tighter and lower scoring affairs and yet this seasons its been the reverse. Can anyone explain why this has been happening as I cant seem to figure, what do you guys think

anyway i think its due to meeting lower quality teams (but the city game, where we won "just" 1-0).

Different style of football as well, in a cup game the other team needs to score to go through so later in the game they throw more people forward to try and get a goal. And then in the league certain teams will be happy to take 1 point so will leave more people back while they attack meaning we can't counter-attack easily.

Quality of opposition. Northampton is not a Prem quality club.

Are you serious? The likes of Reading, Northampton etc are much different than the likes of Chelsea, away games at Stoke, and lower table teams parking the bus.

Besides the weaker opposition, the cup games started later, by which time we had hit better form.
