I expected a total cluster fuck when I saw the setup, & especially the bucket, but damned if that wasn't the most impressive hockey style, coordinated expulsion of a rat from a two story townhouse via brooms that I've ever seen.

And I've seen plenty.

I would watch a sport of this.

  1. you must be afraid of rats
  2. you score a point for every rat you successfully direct to your goal.
  3. the arena is comprised of various obstacles and the play equipment is comprised of common household cleaning tools.

It could be called mouse trap.

tiebreakers are the same thing but with bats (the animal).

Jessica used to practice broom hockey for hours and hours. While her classmates were going on dates, hanging out at the mall, Jessica was mastering the art of the bristly slap shot. Rain or shine, night or day, Jessica could always be found with a broom in her hand.

This day was her destiny. The long hours of hard work were all for this day when this rodent intruder dared to enter their home. Jessica did not turn away from her destiny. No, she embraced it. Today she met her destiny head on and sent the vile rodent through the air and back into the abyss from which he came and, in doing so, became a legend in her own time.

While you were partying Jessica studied the broom.

While you were having premarital sex Jessica mastered the slap shot.

While you wasted your days at the gym in the pursuit of vanity Jessica cultivated inner strength.

And now that there's a rat in the house and it's falling down the stairs you have the audacity to come to Jessica for help?

Don't forget that strength of materials doesn't scale with body size. A rat falling down some stairs will be hurt far less than a human falling down the same stairs -- and a bug even less.

Despite their ignorance to it, wild animals who make their way inside our homes are subject to whatever means necessary to remove them. It's the way of life.

This is about as humane as it gets.

Also, rats are tough motherfuckers.

Yea, the animal lover part of me thought "awwww poor rat" but the logical side thought "it's a pest in their house that can carry disease. Great broom work Stephanie."

Its a rat. You would be shocked how hard they are to hurt let alone kill. That tumble down the stairs and subsequent slap shot was just a fun afternoon for that rat.

I have pet rats and one of them stepped out of their hammock the wrong way and sprained their ankle and was limping for a month.

To be fair, they've not had difficult lives.

Wild rats are far more hardy than pet ones. Pets are bred to be pets, through many generations of soft, spoiled lives. Especially if you just get one bred to be a feeder...

Wild rats have bred many generations to survive.

Same. I love animals, but it's a fucking rat in a home. It's not that it's an endangered species. Also, it's probably fine.

it's probably fine.

I've seen a forge worker turn a 10 ft length of 3" steel tubing into a makeshift rat launcher, rat was fine.

I thought that rats are pretty good at finding their way back home. When my home had mice my mother had to take them out of the live traps to woods a mile away or else they'd find their way back? Maybe my parents just lied to me though.

Sounds right rats are pretty good problem solvers, the only solution I can offer to this would be rural vs city life. Rats in the city probably have a lot of options when it comes to finding food. Where as in a rural area they might go to the same area more often? dunno I might be making that all up.

They're totally right though, he could have gotten hurt....

He's lucky it was 4 girls and not a regular person who would have just used a trap and snapped the fucking things neck.

lucky it was 4 girls and not a regular person

What is the conversion rate between girls and regular persons? Or is this apples and oranges?

Apples and oranges are the metric unit. Under the imperial system 8 girls are equal to roughly three children, and five children are equal to two regular persons.

But if 2.5 children is equal to 1 regular person, what about a midget? If a midget is half a regular person, that'd make them equal to 1.25 children. So if 1 child is equal to 2.66 girls that means it's about 3 girls to a midget.

For those using metric units simply replace midget with clementine.

The rat was lucky. What are the odds that four girls living together don't have a single cat?

That was a big rat....not sure either of my tubby pampered house cats could have taken him down. You would need a tough old barn cat for a rat that size.

You would need a tough old barn cat for a rat that size.

A cat without a name. A cat who earns his shelter and asks nothing more in return. A cat who has parented five liters, all of which now live somewhere else. A cat with scars and patches of fur that will never grow back. A cat who rarely meows, but whose hiss would put fear in the heart of a grown man. A tough old barn cat who might, two or so times in its lifetime, let you pet it for a moment or two, or fall asleep on the porch a few feet from you.

I work in a retail store with a big warehouse attached to it. I've always kept a hockey stick in the back (I'm a dirty Canadian) to take care of the mice.

About 5 years ago a girl I work with saw me kill a mouse and actually made a complaint that I was "torturing animals". Fortunately we've got a million cameras in the back, so when I had a meeting with my district manager and union rep I just threw on the video. One shot and done. The only comment they had regarding the incident was that I have a "nice shot".

I don't wanna kill anything needlessly, but if it carries disease and comes into my environment, it's gonna have a bad time.

The adrenaline that must have been pumping through Jessica's veins when she heard them screaming her name. I bet she was like Game 7 Jordan. Time just slows down and she's thinking "The door is wide open, the rat is obviously going to take the open door. I'm just the back up plan." Then she sees it. The rat is tumbling out of control. A rat in control might have gone for the door but this one is discombobulated. He could go anywhere. Our plan is ruined. Then a moment of clarity hits her and she's like "NO... Fuck it. I've had enough. I am going to call on the power of the janitors of old and sweep the pizza dragging, ninja training, French cuisine cooking, Nimh's secret keeping piss out of this rat bastard." She tightens her grip on the broom in anticipation. The rat turns the corner right towards her. She hesitates for a split second then whispers "...gretzky" before hitting the greatest slap shot in the history of the Internet.
