You missed out on some German stereotypes. Go buy a BMW and write another ranty review.

"Oh, yeah, I need a coin to get a cart." I walk back to my car. At this point, I should have gotten in and driven off, but, alas, I did not yet know better.

You sound American.

He is. And he's talking about an american Aldi.

I know, it was just such an American thing to be upset at a coin deposit for a cart.

Or the lack of service.

Remember. They're used to having these when they go shopping. So having to put a coin in something you have to physically push yourself? Outrageous!

The ham, signed at $0.89/lb, was charged at $1.09/lb.

Go call the cops.

My favourite part is this bit:

off to my left I am greeted with the candy aisle. I wonder to myself if this is a German attempt at catering to the American market. I feel mildly insulted, for the third time in as many minutes.

I don't think I have ever met a single person, American or otherwise, who feels insulted because a grocery store sells candies.

OP elevates feeling insulted to an art form.

that's why it's called a discounter. There's not a big variety, it's about being cheap as possible.

Actually it's the Aldi concept. Other discounters in germany have more variety.

Aldi only sells their own brand an mostly 1 brand per item to keep the price as low as possible.

Yes, "dis count" means "not so much variety".

What does Uber have to do with groceries? Are they starting delivery?

And Aldi is in America since decades why again did you think you had to post this shitty rant here?

Omg. Go back to Walmart where you belong.

it is the lowest quality meat I have ever seen. Ho hum. I proceed to make a sandwich. The bread is stale.

Well it's not their fault the US has shitty standards for foods and is unable to produce decent bread.

For the true german experience, next time check your receipt while still in the store

I doubt you went to an ALDI in Germany and they carge you $ per lb. We have neither of those in Germany.

Suggestion: Just contact your country's ALDI company in the US, the headquarter seems to be located in Batavia, Illinois :
