He's been playing youngsters though. There's no point "ditching" a competition, especially one as prestigious as the FA cup when were the defending winners. One step at a time, play Rashford, TFM, Darmian, etc. against Blackburn and hopefully destroy St. Etienne in the first leg so we're not as pushed in the second.

We're only in one more competition than City, for example, and that's the league cup final (one more game). The club owe the supporters that pay to travel and watch the club to try in all competitions, not simply ditch one.

True but you have to consider that nobody expects City to win the CL not even them. If they think a tie is lost they can give up on it and start focusing on the league, we on the other hand do not have that luxury, we have to win the EL at any cost because it's doable and it's our way into the CL. City also have an easier fixture list than us in the Prem.

I get what you're saying about the prestige of the FA Cup and doing it for the fans but I simply do not think it's possible to achieve our targets in the Prem and EL and win the FA Cup at the same time.

Are you sure you support Manchester United?

Not only are we the only club in England to have won the treble of Prem, CL, FA Cup, there are many seasons we have gone all out in all competitions under SAF.

If memory serves me right, in 2008/09, we won the League Cup, FIFA world club cup, Premiership and were runners up in CL and went out on pens in the semi's of the FA Cup.

That's the Manchester United I remember and love. Never do I want us to become a club like Arsenal where top 4 is the aim.

The aim is to win everything we can.

Jose knows best. And you don't get to become one of the most successful managers in modern football by ditching one competition so you could have it easier in other.

Isn't that exactly what Fergie did with FA Cup in 2000/01?

No. We were forced to go and play a competition because the FA were sucking up to FIFA. Then we got all the blame. Fat lot of good it did.

I don't think we should ditch it but I also don't want us playing our A team. I would like to see youth mixed in with players like Basti and young. If we get deep In the comp then I think we should go for it.

agreed. my team to face Blackburn:

Romero Darmian Jones Smalling Shaw Schweini Fellaini Lingard Rooney Martial Rashford

Funnily enough that our only real starter in that squad is Martial and its still a decent line up.

I don't think it really matters atm because the league wouldn't be at risk (no league games). It's the later games that will be a problem where we should rest players like Pogba, Herrera, Ibra etc..

yeah i like the team, Shaw needs comfidence and game time. the more i see Rashford as a proper #9 the better. i would like them to alternate Zlatan and Rashford more.

What do you mean by ditching? Playing Rooney, Limgard, Shaw, Rashford, Young, etc?

Ye, TFM and Axel too and not use any starters.

Then of course, we will do it. Just dont call playing mentioned above + schweinsteiger, tfm and co. against other teams ditching

I mean it is ditching if we rest all our strongest 11 innit?

No. Ditching would be doin it against top 6 opposition in the cup. This is just being reasonable imho

Nope. We should be going strong on all fronts. Ditching a competition shows a sign of weakness imo. I expect whatever team is played to go in with the mentality to win that game and eventually win the competition. It's the United way and I don't ever want to see that mentality stop.

I know what your trying to say, but purposely ditching a competition is short sighted in that you're giving the squad the option to take a day off. As a manager you don't want that type of mentality in the team. You would want the players to give 100% effort every game, not just for the fans, but for the players themselves and most importantly the young players like rashford and TFM. If you show the young players it's ok to take a day off, that type of mentality will bleed throughout the squad. You don't want that. Plus, I believe our squad depth is one of our strengths compared to the others battling in the top 6.

Also, try telling a competitor like zlatan or even mourinho to ditch the fa cup. They'll likely laugh at your face.

He'll rotate a good bit like he has in all the games against Championship sides, i just want us to win 2 or 3 nil at home in Europa, will make everything easier.

Yeah - screw this thought. We need to try and win every cup we can.
