Wasn't the issue that the developers were going to make like 80% of the mod's revenue and the modder was only going to take home 20% or so?

1: The steam workshop is and will always be crap. If the modder changes the name of the mod or deletes it from the shop, your saves will be broken.
2. The problem was that anyone could say "hey my broken brony sword should cost 5 dollars now". A simple donate button is much better. Then they get rewarded for creating quality content.
3. When are they making a new game that isn't a VR title? Preferably a SP game.

I'm a huge steam fanboy and I didn't spend a penny through the service for months after the Skyrim fiasco.

Valve and other developers/publishers are just looking for additional revenue streams. This particularly stream is very alluring for them as it requires very little work on their part and next to no accountability.

That's a junk deal.

It should be 10/45/45 split between Valve / "Game Developer and/or Publisher" / Modder

Paid mods are cancer. All Mods should be free. And honestly, if you disagree you should be punched in the face.

Next thing you know ,more and more people make all their mods paid. And they get away with it too. And no, just because they make it purchasable, doesn't mean the mod will be of quality content.
The one way to deal with PC gamers is to treat them how developers treat them. Which is ignoring them completely and giving them scraps every now and then

I recall that Nexus Mods said they wouldn't ever charge for mods (they have a donation button, which is enough tbh), so I'll completely ignore the Steam workshop.

Paid mods are ridiculous, it even led to the rise of mod piracy ffs. I'm fine with donating to modders, but the developers getting a huge cut? No thanks. Developers get paid for the game and for the DLC, so why should they get paid for the work of people who use the assets/new assets for something else?
