Got a bit bored and decided to set a little honeypot to gather some data on methods being used by whoever these people are (paid agents, true-believers, idiots, who knows?).

First observation, they seem to work in pairs, repeating each other's talking points almost verbatim, with slight variation.

It gets confusing at times as the usernames seem to be running in a pattern of [WORD][WORD][RANDOM CAPITAL LETTERS]. I have not made enough observations of username patterns to determine for certain if this is a common username pattern, however it does seem to be all over the place.

The account ages range from very young (within hours) to not more than a year old.

Discourse generally begins with a "whataboutism."

When that doesn't stick they began resorting to "slippery slope" arguments, starting at a "sane" position and sliding gently towards what appear to be pre-defined talking points.

Again, many of them revolve around comparisons to political figures from recent history. Never anyone pre Bush Sr.

Reagan worship seems widespread and there's an almost unspoken rule about ignoring any mentions of Nixon, or immediately attempting a redirect via whataboutism or simple change in topic of conversation.

Topic switching is another tool.

You start out the "dialogue" on one subject, however they will pivot to an entirely different talking point mid-comment and present an "engagement offer" at the end of the comment to get you to begin wasting your time on a subject unrelated to your original intended topic of discussion.

If you have encounters with individuals using these techniques, ignore them and respond with only nonsense or other non-engaging but inbox filling content. (I'm currently using a string of 10,000 periods ".")
