Hey All,
First off, my apologies if this doesn't fit the bill. I just discovered this sub a few minutes ago after googling "arguing reddit ban". Long story short, /u/TheYellowRose banned me from /r/SexPositive because the article I posted was a Breitbart.com article. FWIW, the article itself was not slanted at all and certainly was nothing as baleful as most everyone thinks Breitbart is. I am probably sounding like a Breitbart, alt-right, fanboy right now. It's not that...believe me. Fuck, if anything, I'm a liberal leaning independent. Anyways.....
So, yeah, I asked the mods why I had been banned. /u/TheYellowRose responded with, "Why on Earth would you post Breitbart anything?" I knew that's why I was banned, but I wanted to hear it from the mods themselves. Turns out I was right. I responded with a well-written, well-tempered write-up of how the article itself was impeccable and true to the story (at least as far as I could confirm with local news). I told the /u/TheYellowRose how Breitbart is just one of dozens of news agencies that I get news from. I am typically a HuffPost/Guardian/NPR kind of guy, but in the interest of bridging the divide between the left and right in America, I thought it a good idea to read what the other side is reading. You know?
So, there I was trying to heal the political divide in America when I came across a great article. I thought to myself that maybe /r/SexPositive might be interested in reading this too. My spidey sense started tingling then. I knew the Breitbart name would ruin it for everyone. Nevermind the fact that the article itself was not slanted in the least bit and impeccably written. I was actually impressed at Breitbart! Which never happens. I decided that I was not going to post another source and that this article would have to do.
I asked the moderator if this was a Breitbart ban or a me ban. Was I being banned because I said something hateful? Or was this simply a ban on linking to a specific website? His/her response? "Your submission had many reports for simply being from Breitbart.com, alt-facts are not facts and even though they've had 818 advertisers drop them, I'm not giving them any clicks from here."
The proof is in the pudding. I'm just incensed by what happened. My ban is still in effect and the coward that is /u/TheYellowRose threw a 72 hour mute on me...on top of the ban. I should not have been banned. Am I right? Wrong? You know that saying, "I don't agree with what you are saying, but I'll fight for your right to say it"? Yeah that is the opposite of what /u/TheYellowRose just did to me and it fucking sucks. Thanks for reading.
