No, I got annoyed with seeing his spam, so he's just regular banned now.

 

Welp, the 'hello fellow kiwi' and 'kiwi juice' threw me but I was clearly in the wrong there. I'm sorry, Sam.

 

Sammy's filed the first annual papers he has to provide, the Confirmation Statement for his prosperous company "PROSPEROUS SOFTWARE CONSULTING LIMITED". It's basically just a few pieces of paper saying "this company is still active and my dox are also still correct".

Seeing as he didn't miss the first deadline I'm going to assume he won't miss the second one either, because you get notified by Companies House when you're due date approaches.

The second filing is going to be much more interesting, because it's the "Accounts" statement. It'll be enlightening to see if he really makes £72,000 ($103,385) a year or if his company is just something that exists on paper to make him feel good (it's the latter).

Unfortunately he's got a lot of time to file the Accounts papers, almost to the end of this year.

Ya know, I have a business adviser. I was told by him to have 100 shares to hand for my company to be taken seriously on paperwork. This also allows me to easily divide this with the other person who is in the venture with me from the start. Sam's company is garbage-tier for this and is the usual "one man band" attitude of only exposing himself to a whopping £1 of risk. He's also probably doing somewhat dodgy stuff, paying himself dividends etc, likely raising his salary and wages up as high as possible through every possible tax trick available. In reality he's probably only paying himself a moderate amount, then inflating it further through those payments.

My old man used to do this, he had a "base" salary of about £40k a year, but could inflate it up to £60k with those share payments and still only pay tax on the basic salary. All above board, all perfectly legal. He couldn't do this every year (simply because the company would have good and bad years) but yeah.

Hilariously, by widely publishing his "end salary" Sam could be walloped by HMRC because what he tells them he takes home versus what he brags about are so vastly different.

It's the Carrwood Park virtual office he has for £20 a month so he can appear more professional. If it looks like you have an office on a business park (and can even "borrow" said offices for meetings etc. then you look more professional than you actually are. The call divert option and even "personal secretary" service are all stuff I can see Sam being vain enough to pay for while he takes calls on the shitter at home.

Man can quite literally be in his Y-fronts (Sam doesn't strike me as the boxers-wearing type) and pretend to be a grown up businessman because his "secretary team" puts the callers through to him.

 

This is all very interesting, but you're implying that Sam is getting any business to begin with and I don't quite believe that.

He's got no formal training in the field his company operates in and, even worse, he has no web presence. Who's going to even consider hiring you to conduct "Information technology consultancy activities" when they can't even find a website or a CV with your accomplishments anywhere on the online.

Prosperous Software Consulting Ltd. is a feel-good project with no value.

Thing is he uses that number of his income as if to impress anyone glancing and tried to use it as a weapon against people to show how much better he was. This was in the same way he tried to use his claimed Milbank experience until I shut that down, he's not used said claim since seeing as I could probably find out his actual role with a few phone calls. (I suspect he was one of the hired sock puppeteers.)

If he publishes those accounts publicly, he has to pay the tax on it (about £22k a year).

If he publishes nothing but still claims that he's paid that much in numerous public places, then HMRC should probably go and have a chat with him.

If its the latter, Sam might be relying on people simply not noticing. HMRC doesn't move unless they can get about 18k in likely moneys back off of someone who is dodging taxes in this way. Otherwise its not worth the investigators investment, time and effort.

Sam sits plenty above that number.

So, Sammy has options 1) Adjust his income to his real amount on said public places immediately 2) Remove all reference to said income. 3) Do nothing and hope for the best.

His only "real" option is #1.

#2 has some effect if he wasn't such a noted idiot for the Farms and we've already archived the pages where he claims such an income.

#3 I will quite happily and anonymously report his company to HMRC on suspicion of tax fraud.

 

I wonder if he actually paid his LPC fees. I don't think they're a tax deductible expense for an IT consultant, do you?

(I'm guessing you're an accountant by the way, what with your knowledge of this and tax and being self employed. Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

Hilariously I am none of these things, but I do tend to do a lot of researching and reading and have a good pool of friends and acquaintances to draw on when I need to check this crap out, but tend to bow to more expert opinion when I come across it.

Maybe I should start renting myself out to make up the numbers at dinner parties...

Well from a quick look around it seems the place he has it at, is one of the few around that's very upfront about their services and costs. Everything is a nice flat, well advertised fee. £20 a month for the basics (use of meeting rooms, business address, mail forwarding) before you get the "deluxe" package of £60 a month to include a receptionist. It's actually a pretty sweet deal for a decent cost and certainly fools people on a basic level.

Every other virtual office I've had a look at (not many admittedly but enough) seem to either offer only the basic service listed above, or are vastly more expensive with a quotation system in place depending on your needs. Sam likely went for the best option for him to make it look better and bigger than it actually is.

Most likely if anyone called asking for a meeting, they'd pull the old "Oh I'm actually in London at the moment on a job." schtick and ask to meet you somewhere public "during a break". He very likely has never set foot in that office space.

Pretty much anywhere from Warwickshire northwards would do that.

 

I don't think he wants to get involved with that shit. Crusading against pedophiles is his brand.
