Tapper Begins Program By Asking ‘When Did the White House Briefing Room Become QVC?’

Earlier today, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway potentially got herself into ethical and legal hot water when she openly shilled for Ivanka Trump’s fashion brand during an interview on Fox & Friends. The product hawking came on the heels of President Donald Trump’s critical tweet of Nordstrom after they decided to stop carrying Ivanka’s line.

At the beginning of CNN’s The Lead this afternoon, host Jake Tapper decided to have a little fun at Conway’s expense.

“So, when did the White House briefing room become QVC?” Tapper asked.

“Pitch woman, top Trump adviser, federal employee,” Tapper stated. “Kellyanne Conway standing in the White House, the people’s house, going on television and telling people to buy Ivanka Trump’s stuff.”

During the White House press briefing today, White House Press Sean Spicer said that Conway had been counseled over the incident.
