i dont understand america. i mean I am on an american website, so I willfully take part in american media/politics. but 90% of the media/politics go way above my head.

like, isnt this a terrible segregational premise for 2017? it will only make people angry no? or is that the point? and if so, whats the next step? or is that all: annoy the majority? or is that the completely wrong angle to look at this project? if so, or anyway, can someone explain this to a non-american like me please. to me, this seems like its only enforcing a them vs us narrative. which seems horrible given the current climate.

Dear Black People, playing identity politics is dumb, take it from us.

Please, no. Just no.

Hey corporations - stay out of politics. Will consider cancelling Netflix. Not because I can't accept the material, but because unless I see a balance in Netflix originals ("Dindus of Detroit") then I'm going to assume your corporation holds a bias toward an anti-white rhetoric.

Will reserve judgement until I watch - just understand it's not a good time to throw your hat into the ring.

This video is trash

That was the most smug, condescending, self-righteous, insufferable 30 second video I have ever seen.

Dear black people, stop killing each other. Drop the victim mentality and focus on your disproportionately large number of broken homes.

Dear liberals, stop with the fucking identity politics. Stop trying to make everything about race and sex.

Did a Netflix algorithm came up with this, or did they buy this? I don't know which is worse.

Its interesting to see the hate for this movie. For me I really like what it was going for but I personally didn't enjoy the dull and self-rightous characters. They really bogged down the message and honestly I didn't care about them in the slightest. Maybe this is the point of the film, but I'm not too sure if it was good or not.

This is a TV series based on the film.

Yes it is, But the polarization of the show is directly contributed to the film, which a majority of white audiences did not like

Awesome, this is out on my birthday! I really need to track down the film of this first, though. Like/Dislike ratio makes me sad.

I don't think people realize it's not supposed to be taken seriously.

However it is coming on the heels of shit from liberal companies like MTV with their "Dear white guys" bullshit.

The timing is very bad. The nation is divided, we need unity not divisive rhetoric.

I've been thinking about giving the movie a shot.

Is it a straight up comedy, or more of a dry satirical thing?

I don't think it's satirical, I think they're being serious.

I'm not sure I know what that means.

Did y'all even watch the movie or did you just look at this thirty second video (which by the way, literally didn't even say anything even remotely outrageous), and get triggered?
