I'd argue we're on a level domestically with Spurs, City, and Arsenal. And in Europe we're about as good as Dortmund or Benfica.

And in Europe we're about as good as Dortmund

Call me pessimistic, but that's being quite nice (to us), no? Dortmund finished 1st in their CL group (over Real Madrid). We finished 2nd in our EL group (behind Fenerbahce).

We're better than Arsenal. So are Spurs and city.

We are probably at most 3 summer transfer windows away from the best teams in the world right now.

Eh, I think we need stability and structure more so than super flashy signings (though we need both). Talent wise we have a lot (not as much as the top sides) but there are some "better" teams that are better than the sum of their parts that we theoretically should be better than.

Edit: That's a mouthful. We aren't a complete "team" yet. That takes time.

This might offend some just because it's comparing players, but I don't mean any offence.

Bayern is the main club I follow, so I often compare United to them. I'd say De Gea, Mhki, Pogba, Zlatan, Mata, and Valencia could play with Bayern if the corresponding players were gone. Bailly might make sub. Martial would mainly be a sub. Otherwise I don't think they'd cut it. Some of them wouldn't necessarily fit either due to the focus on being positionally flexible since Guardiola. And you know Bayern, they'd generally have to be bought for a steal.

One thing to note about youth: Young players like Martial or Rashford or Depay would mostly be subs unless it's an unimportant/easy match. As examples, in the game yesterday in the cup Sanches, last year's golden boy winner, was a sub, as were Kimmich and Coman, who both performed very well last season. It's like that in most games, with an occasional start as mentioned.

I'd say Jose plans on using this season to identify weak spots (both in player quality and behaviour issues) and replace as needed. And from my perspective it's working well. United actually look dangerous again.

We haven't won the European cup in almost 10 years and league title in 4 years now. So although we are maybe still the most popular football club in the world, we are not even top 3 domestically anymore in terms of our recent success and squad quality(Horrible to state but it's the truth)

Make no mistake, bad decisions from board level has led us to here. The board shunned the likes of Mourinho/Klopp in favour of tradition but appointed Gollum aka someone who won literally nothing at Everton and didn't ever beat the top 4 away from home(Fergie was a serial winner at Aberdeen). Another 2 of those years post 2013 were wasted in hiring a 63 year old philosopher who probably had no intention of staying long term and developing a team, but he was given £250m to buy a bunch of players and mesh them together.

That's not completely true. LVG was hired to rebuild the team and hand it off to Giggs. If he spent all that money to win right away he wouldn't have played so many young players or spent on Shaw, Martial, and Memphis.
