Our FAQ

What we expect of posters

Quick questions:
Simple Questions Simple Answers
What is this subreddit? This subreddit is a place to both mock and refute the ideas of subreddits that exist solely to propagate bigotry towards a certain race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and the like. A fuller definition of both hate subreddits and our purpose, as well as a list of notable hate groups on Reddit, can be found here. More information about our purpose can be found in our FAQ. Troll subreddits and subreddits whose purpose is not explicit hatred will not be considered hate subreddits and links to both will be removed.
Why are you doing this? Part of our mission is to get moderators to step up, because it is ultimately them who decide if their community is going to be a hate community or not. If this has no hope of happening, as is often the case with smaller subs, we want to pressure the admins to act. Obviously they aren't going to quarantine or ban a default sub and since it's not our primary goal anyways, we regularly make an exception for defaults, when hateful comments are up-voted and left there by the mods.
What if I'm banned? Modmail us if you're banned and you believe the ban was unjustified. Please do remember that hurling slurs at the moderators will not improve your chances of getting unbanned. Spamming mod mail is not a good way to get on our good side.
What if I'm from a hate subreddit? People from hate subreddits can post here, but there are enforced limitations on what you are allowed do in such a case. See here for more information. Be civil.

Simple Rules Those Rules Explained
Follow the Reddit rules, NP links We enforce the global Reddit rules here in AHS; any doxxing or spamming in particular will be met with immediate ban. Given that brigading is against the rules of Reddit, we enforce NP for all links to other places on Reddit, and additionally, if you are found to be commenting in a linked post after it was made, you will be banned from further participation in this sub. Non-NP Reddit links will be automatically removed. To NP a link, simply change the "www" to "np" (http://www.reddit.com to http://np.reddit.com) It goes without saying that calls to violence or doxxing will not be tolerated.
No slurs Racial, ethnic, religious, transphobic, homophobic, misogynist, and other slurs will not be accepted - because we automatically remove them, we recommend that you avoid direct quoting of slurs. Depending on the context and severity, users throwing around slurs will be met with a ban or a warning.
No deleting comments Seriously. It's embarrassing to lose an argument, but deleting comments in a conversation serves nothing but giving you a free one-way ticket to being banned indefinitely.
No ban evasion This will lead to your alt being banned, and to you being reported to the admins. Ban evasion is a shadowban-worthy violation of the Reddit rules.
No calls to violence Seriously, none. This is strictly enforced. Strictly. We aren't kidding.
Do not debate economic theory This is not the appropriate sub to do so. We encourage you to take these matters elsewhere. As a reminder, we take slapfighting and calls to violence seriously here.
No shitposting This is purely subjective. No slap fights. We may choose to warn you. We may not.

Make no mistake: the racist, homophobic bigots of /r/altright are not going to leave, they're going to start infiltrating other areas of reddit, the exact same thing that happened with /r/fatpeoplehate, /r/european, /r/coontown and dozens of other hate subs when they got banned.
Well guess what, it's time for some EXTREME VETTING!
By a huge stroke of luck, just 24 hours before the sub got rightfully smashed into the dirt, I went through and tagged over 1500 prolific /r/altright posters so that it's easy to spot them when they try and innocuously sneak into other subs.
You too can keep an eye on this scum simply by installing Reddit Enhancement Suite and following these instructions:
  1. Make sure the RES command line is turned on. If you hit "." (the period key) and a little bar pops up with a text entry box, then it's turned on. If not, go into RES settings and in the left-hand sidebar, scroll down until you see the "Core" entry, click it, and then click "RES Command Line" in the submenu to bring up the right settings. Make sure the "RES Command Line" heading is switched to "ON", and make sure the sub-options are switched on too. You can also click the "Launch" button to open the command line in one tab, and then switch back to this tab here to read the rest of these instructions. NOTE: If you don't currently use RES's user tagger, and you don't have any tags that you need to preserve, you can skip to step 6.
  2. Paste RESStorage update RESmodules.userTagger.tags into the RES command line and hit enter, or click the button. A window will appear containing a list of all your current RES tags. Copy everything in that box.
  3. The Mass Tagger doesn't work with any uppercase usernames for some reason, so you need to convert your current tag list into lowercase first. I recommend using https://convertcase.net/, but use whatever tool you have at your disposal. Basically, the stuff you just copied in step 2 needs to be run through a lower case conversion before you move on to step 4.
  4. Paste the tags you just copied into the third text area in the right hand column, the one directly underneath the label "Paste your RES tags here".
  5. Open this link in a new tab, hit Ctrl+A on Windows or Cmd+A on Mac to select the whole page, and copy the text
  6. Paste the text you just copied into the Mass Tagger in the text area with the label "New Tags"
  7. Hit the "Merge tags" button in the Mass Tagger, then copy all the tags from the "Merged Tag Results" box
  8. Open the RES Command Line again and paste the same line of text I gave you in step 2, then paste the tags you copied in step 8 into the box that appears, and press "confirm" save your handiwork.
From now on, all of the top posters from /r/altright will show up with a red "/r/altright" tag next to their name whenever they appear anywhere on reddit.
Keep your eyes peeled for these hateful fucks, because they WILL try and subvert the rest of reddit now that their safe space is gone.
EDIT: In case you haven't already realised, you can use the Mass Tagger to generate your own user lists from active alt-right shitholes like /r/the_donald and /r/uncensorednews.
It's pretty straight forward, and if you hover over the various options for a few seconds it'll display a tooltip explaining what each section is for. Once you've generated a list of users in whichever sub you're tagging you can follow the exact same steps I've given you in this post, but instead of copying the list in option 6 just use the list generated by the tagger.

Thanks! Also as has been asked in his other thread:
Everyone on the list has posted to /r/altright on at least one occasion, and their posts have been upvoted by other people in /r/altright. The vote threshold was 10 points, so at least 9 other people who frequented /r/altright agreed with whatever that person posted. There are no false positives in that respect.
