Menstruation is Normal; but is it Natural?

Written by CharMelodi

Society today looks at menstruation as a sign of womanhood, a rite of sorts. When you get your period suddenly you are ‘fertile’ and have ‘become’ a woman and this is the slight price you pay for Eve biting the apple in the bible. A woman’s menstrual cycle is marketed to everyone as inevitable, necessary and natural.

I’d like to respectfully call BULLSHIT.

When I got my first period at age 16 I remember being excited and thinking to myself ‘finally! I’m a real woman now!’ Haaaa, let’s have a toast to those days of innocence. Sharp, unfamiliar pains immediately washed away any of my naivety towards menstruation. Suddenly I was moody and the slightest things made me want to rip my hair out, I could smell everything from the leather couch to my upper lip and I didn’t feel like standing up or walking around or being around anyone or anything that could talk back to me.

Something about this just doesn’t seem right and I’ve always had this nagging feeling that I wasn’t supposed to be losing my precious blood. I try to envision my ancestors fussing with tampons and PMS remedies but I just can’t. Nothing about seeing my own blood feels natural to me so I looked into exactly what was going on in my uterus and how I could potentially stop the bloodshed.

To simplify the marketed explanation, the glands in the brain (pituitary and hypothalamus) send hormones through the blood stream into the ovaries that stimulate some of the eggs and cause them to begin to ripen. When one of the eggs is fully mature it bursts out of is sac, away from the ovary and into the Fallopian tubes. The flood of hormones also signals the endometrium to thicken with blood in preparation for pregnancy and the egg travels down to the uterus. The cervix changes its mucus from thick and opaque to thin and stretchy in preparation for fertilization. If there is no fertilization then the egg breaks apart and the uterus is flooded with another set of hormones that tell it to open and contract until the endometrium and unfertilized egg are gone. Repeat monthly until you’re about to damn die.

I fully believe that the unexamined life is not worth living and I make it a point to question my spiritual, mental and physical circumstances. I also don’t take Google access lightly because I know my parents would have been able to accomplish more if they knew more. Beyond that, when I see that everyone else is okay with an official story; I take it upon myself to fine comb the story and draft my own conclusions because the devil is in the details. Feel free to disagree with my correlations and conclusions; be sure to draw up your own.

My first question to menstruation marketers; why doesn’t the blood absorb back into the body? Observe domesticated animals and their wild relatives. The domesticated animals menstruate but the wild relatives do not. Wild animals eat natural plant-based diets and they have mating seasons called heats; during which the female animals ovulate in preparation for fertilization. In the wild, ovulation and food availability are directly connected because if there is no food supply to sustain new life then they do not reproduce.

On the other hand, domesticated animals that would normally be in the wild eating fresh plants are kept in unnatural habitats eating processed high protein foods and have menstruation cycles almost equivalent to that of humans. When these domesticated animals are fed a wild diet, the menstruation stops. To quote the book Is Menstruation Necessary? by Harris, Wandy and Nadin Forest McDonald;  It is now agreed by most observers that the cause of menstruation among domestic animals is the food they receive at the hands of man.

“If the endometrial tissues are not needed – in a truly healthy woman, as in animals in their wild state, those tissues are mostly reabsorbed. What remains is expelled over a short period of time as a slight mucus discharge.” Dr. Henry G. Beiler

So I got to thinking, maybe our blood is too toxic to reabsorb back into the body? Is the free fall of blood the bodies way of saying good night and good riddance? It’s proven in animals that diet and menstruation are directly connected but in humans no one has ever made that connection blatantly obvious for us. The human body is designed to digest mostly fruits & vegetable matter much like our primate friends (similar teeth, intestinal tract and digestive organs) but the average American diet is high in protein (amino acids) from animal body parts/products, dried legumes & grains – none of which are easy to digest. This makes a naturally balanced/alkaline body VERY acidic. The blood becomes sluggish, being too full of fats and proteins and the dirty blood circulates to every organ.

So lets tie it all together. Essentially, overeating on an high protein diet that has too much of certain nutrients and not enough of others; overstimulates the body and causes hormonal imbalance which in turn sends signals to the ovaries to mature eggs and flood the uterus with blood when it’s not necessary.

It’s so simple that its hard, in fact. When the body is overwhelmed with toxins from a diet chocked full of proteins, fats, sugars, salts and chemicals we can’t pronounce; it eases into a state of constant toxicity or toxemia. Here comes high blood pressure and myriad of problems thanks to the blood being full of toxins. The organ tissues in the body become breeding grounds for parasites and viruses. Gunk from incomplete digestion of all the “foods” women eat build up in the intestines and over-worked elimination organs. The congestion and inflammation causes the uterus to become tender and enlarged. This creates a strain on the already weakened capillaries of the endometrium and before you know it, you’re bleeding like a stuck pig.

This tweet sent the twitter world into a meltdown. Even as I type, there are women in my mentions right now schooling me on whats natural and whats not. Granted, I did say that I know for a FACT and no one believes facts unless they come from the “system” so I already knew what to expect as soon as I tweeted this. Instead of inquiring about how I got my menstruation down to 48 painless hours or why I say its unnatural; the whole feminist sect and their Black Lives Matter do-boys came to let me know that I was iron deficient and that if I don’t start eating some meat soon, I was going to die a horrible vegan death.

I find it most amusing that people don’t know the first thing about protein or iron or enzymes etc. but they can give you a full dissertation on why you need to eat animals. As a Master Finesser, I study my own body and draw my own conclusions BEFORE I go and research any 3rd party sources. I am the master of my own bodily vehicle and I decided years before I went vegan that I was going to get rid of my period because it’s unnecessary and I know it is.

Going vegan was my own experiment I conducted on my body, just to see how closely diet and menstruation are related among many other things. This is the work of an alchemist, to form a thesis and do in-house testing. Only the ignorant, stupid and the naive allow 3rd party bodily testing without doing their due diligence to figure out what’s what. I’ve been there and I’ve done that, which is why I allowed the implantation of the Mirena IUD in my uterus at age 19. I had no idea I was waging war on my body by allowing this foreign contraption in by body, but I figured it out about a year later when my periods completely disappeared, my hair started thinning, my nails were brittle and my teeth were crumbling out of my head. I finally researched the IUD, lo and behold; these people were trying to kill me. I got it removed in January of 2012 and have been detoxing and eating to cleanse ever since.

“Women who eat a vegetarian diet containing mostly raw food experience only brief periods, scarcely noticeable, with hardly any loss of blood.” Dr. Henry G. Beiler, The Natural Way to Sexual Health.

In this book, Dr. Beiler explains that women experience long, painful periods because of the toxic condition of the blood due to the traditional Western diet that is full of fats and proteins. I completely agree with this diagnosis because I witnessed it in myself. When I ate like the average American, my periods were 6 treacherous days of hell on earth. Once I decided to back off of the animal flesh and begin detoxing, my period has dwindled down to only 2 days and the only thing I feel is my uterus opening and closing. It’s amazing how much my diet has put me in tune with my body, I literally know the second that my uterus is about to open and I never had this type of connection with my body when I was eating other bodies.

When we eat plant based foods that our bodies were created to digest, nutrient assimilation is simple and the body can maintain its balance with ease. The hormonal imbalances caused from eating unidentified body parts, preservatives and chemical mixtures can be rectified by simply eating raw fruits and vegetables. Fruits are the easiest foods to ingest for humans; providing adequate proteins, essential fats, minerals and vitamins. There is no constipation or sluggish blood or toxemia when you consume foods that fall from trees onto the ground; like there is when you eat “foods” that have been killed or “foods” you can’t even recreate because they’ve been made in laboratories.

Menstruation in women corresponds to seminal emissions in men, both are a depletion to the body. Blood is life, and periods bring about a major loss of hormones, which are the source of youth, health, longevity and beauty. In fact, the secret of female regeneration is to avoid the loss of our precious sex hormones through mucus discharges or hemorrhages. There was indeed a time where women did not menstruate and when they did they were isolated because it was considered a dis-ease. Primitive cultures still regard it as a dis-ease and quarantine any woman who begins menstruating.  Studies have even shown that during World War I, the food supply in Central Europe was limited and the entire population had to live on a low protein diet with very little animal proteins and a large number women suddenly stopped menstruating. Furthermore, there is plenty of medical literature documenting women that had children and lived to old ages without ever having a period. These studies are not mainstream because they don’t support the ‘menstruation is inevitable’ narrative.

It was most hilarious to watch all of these women that claim the patriarchy is out to get them and the system hates them – gang up on me and tell me to go back to anatomy class. Education in America is here to domesticate, not educate. Ideals are marketed well to American citizens but it’s completely up to you to buy into what’s being sold. Dr. Herbert Blackschleger, author of the book Hide said that the agenda of our society “is to destroy free will, that as soon as pupils leave school they will be incapable through out their years of thinking or acting otherwise as their school masters would have wished.” That works like a charm. Its also wildly hilarious that these women claim men can’t tell them anything about their bodies but I’m sure it was plenty of men that had a hand in those anatomy books that they keep referencing.  This lecture from the master teacher Delbert Blair has some really interesting gems about menstruation and female anatomy, please enjoy it at your leisure. Also check out the Wounded Womb series by Dr. Phil Valentine. Unless, of course, your mind is closed to their teachings because, patriarchy.

If you let men tell you that menstruation is natural, why not listen to a few of the men that say menstruation isn’t natural? Dr. Imhotep Llaila Afrika has been telling us for years that menstruation is not a normal health state. Menstruation is hemorrhaging and it is no more normal to bleed from the uterus than it is to bleed from the brain, lungs, kidneys or pancreas. He firmly states that women on a holistic diet that emotionally and mentally sound, do not menstruate. I’m sure the feminists will have a field day calling him a patriarchal misogynistic hotep that’s out to police women’s bodies. Insert an eye roll here.

To sum it up, mainstream conditioning and media propaganda have tricked women into thinking that menstruation is natural when its not. They’ve tricked women into thinking that high protein diets are essential, when it’s not. They’ve tricked women into thinking that when you have a 2 day period, you are iron deficient and your body isn’t functioning correctly. Women are always marketed to and preyed upon, because its common knowledge that if you can trick the woman then the man has no choice but to fall right along with her. The woman is the epicenter of the physical universe and she is being played like a puppet on a string right now simply because she doesn’t understand her function, purpose or divinity and she has bought prepackaged destruction from very crafty salesmen at a VERY high price.
You guys can keep your 10 day periods and your feminist agendas and your slut walks and your lack of self knowledge WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY over there.

When I get rid of my period completely by continuously detoxing with handcrafted, all organic, wild sourced herbal remedies from Heal Thy Self 360 and eating plant based nutrient dense meals like the ones found at Mealsaps, I’ll be sure to share my regimen with anyone interested.

Hey so this is very interesting. You do talk a bit about our ancestors and menstruating. I wanted to mention that there are definitely ancient cultures that the women menstruated and had ceremonies, red tents and even ways to collect the blood to make medicine paste….I appreciate your sharing, I support BLM and I do not belong to any party. However i do work with women with all different kinds of situations and one of them is that they sometimes reabsorb fetuses. Medically, this is called “missed miscarriage ” but no one talks about it and these women are almost always stigmatized and abused by the medical field because their pregnancy doesn’t get confirmed or is , then the baby disappears. Anyway, thought I’d share. I love meat, my body is very healthy and I feel very connected to my menstruation; like many of my ancestors who felt it a significant time of renewal and transformation. I’m glad you shared your experience with us, definitely food for thought. Anshin Kelly

I also wanted to mention that I also know my body, very well. I had two pregnancies that didn’t show up readily in test or ultrasound, but I knew and I gave birth to two healthy babies 15 months apart (I was pregnant two separate times). I also know that as an intuitive healer, eating meat is so important for me to stay grounded and to keep my fire. I just know this about myselfand my body. I honor my intuition and am an alchemist in the way you explained. There have been quite a few vegans who have let me know in different fashions that my meat eating is a result of being brainwashed by society. I’ve also checked in with my intuition about that on many occasions and I’ve come to the conclusion that i should listen to my body and eat meat when I feel to eat meat. I’m just sharing that I am an intuitive woman also and I know my body also, but I came to different conclusions than you….does this make me a brainwashed lamb of society? Too far gone to even know what’she right. I mean again, I’m definitely happy you shared this, there’s a lot here, but I wanted to raise some questions about your seeming conclesion that intuition equals vegan…..

One flaw is that wild animals do not ALL eat plant based diets. Carnivores are carnivores. They lack the enzymes to break down plants and grains. The only way they get some is if they need to vomit or eat the intestines of their prey which they do not always do. And in that case the plants are pre digested.
Compare the teeth of a dog or cat to a horse or cow. Very different and that’s because they are designed to eat different foods.
I am all for cutting meat out of my diet as I don’t do well when I consume it. But I know that if I want to have a dog or cat, they are designed to eat meat. So I need to feed them what their body needs, just as I know my body doesn’t need meat.
Once you study the anatomy and physiology of carnivores, you can clearly see they are designed to eat meaty bones, organs and can have plants as treats but they don’t provide them nutrients because as I said, unlike us, they lack those digestive enzymes.
If you see the stool of a dog fed a species appropriate diet compared to one eating kibble or plants, huge difference and you see what their bodies were designed to consume

Even herbivores eat bugs and sometimes birds.

EXCELLENT information, CharMelodi. I found out years ago that there IS a direct link between the cycle and the diet. A well-known holistic practitioner once said that the cycle is only supposed to last 1 – 2 days! I was shocked and intrigued. I’m looking forward to learning your results. Your article is greatly appreciated.

Great article! This really spoke to me on so many levels. I’ve been wanting to become a better eater and have been considering becoming vegetarian in hopes to eventually become vegan and then one day just maybe be able to be a raw vegan. This article has made my decision an urgent need, as obviously my health is at extreme risk if I continue my unnatural eating habits. Thank you for putting views out there and enlightening us all on the truth of women’s health. God bless!

  • This was a very intriguing read, to say the least.

I’ve always had a 7 day period since I started at 13 yrs. old in 1982…until after I had 4 kids and ate crappy food. At that point I had a 3 week period and 7 days were without any bleeding. When I went vegan in 2012 it took my body 3 months to return to a 7 day period once a month. I’m still on that schedule. I know when it will start and when it will end. I’m 47 yrs. old. My 2 daughters eat meat, processed food, sugar, and all the other crap offered to us these days. They have 3 day periods once a month on time. I tell people that since I went vegan, my period has regulated. I know no other way. I believe my body is back the way it was meant to be. Comparing us to animals, I feel, is a mistake, when even humans are all different. On size does not always fit all. What works for you may not give me the same result. I wish I didn’t have a period, and some day I won’t, but until now, I am perfectly fine having a regular 7 day period once a month (it beats a 3 week period any day!)

Great article. This can actually be extended to many conditions or degenerative diseases. As soon as you have a vegan diet focus on raw food, these conditions disappear in most of the cases.

Wild animals don’t go into heat? What? The amount of flat out stupidity in this article is the reason I’m quitting Facebook.

  • The reason women during WWI lost their periods was caloric deficit. It is *very* well documented that if you are not consuming sufficient calories you will stop ovulating and therefore stop getting a period, because the period is brought on by the increase and then decrease in progesterone that occurs as a result of ovulation. I would guess that your periods have gotten lighter for a similar reason. I will be very interested to see if you manage to eat little enough to stop getting a period but continue to ovulate. My guess is no.

    • Stanley

More recently, female runners whose body fat gets too low stop having periods.

  • I just commenting as I’m interested in keeping updated on the progress.

I stopped my period for two years with tantric energy practises; because I didn’t want to ovulate and have babies, and felt that because of that decision, I *should* be able to communicate with my body about it.

I am not for or against this article, but I am curious.

    • Brooke Mitchell

what!!? I am SO interested in this. I want a natural BC for when I dont want to conceive.

  • Your picture behind the comments is beautiful and annoying in regard to trying to read the comments. Otherwise I 100% agree with your views and can state that even as a male I’ve noticed a calming of my testosterone driven need to compete since realizing that Veganism is our innate default way to fuel. Keep doing what you do 🙂

I know several vegans that have been on this diet for ages and still have their periods, cramps, heavy bleeding, the whole nine yards…so, what is the explanation to this, then….??

    • Alexandra

Well, I have been vegan for almost a year and my cramps were somewhat good several of the months but I did not notice a change in the severity for the other months. I realized that I needed to consume more natural based foods. As in being a raw foodist. Vegans eat cooked meals, most eat french fries, unhealthy vegan chocolates and vegan hotdogs, corndogs, hamburgers, etc. That’s the reason they are cramping still. The toxins you put into your body are what you get out. Vegan replacements, like the hamburgers, are loaded with chemicals and tons of unnecessary ingredients. Check the ingredients list and you will see that there are so many additives that are more than likely bad for your body. The less toxins you consume, the less blood that needs to come out. Therefore, you will get less cramps or even none at all. It takes awhile for it to fully come into effect. I always had trouble with dairy (they made my cramps feel 1000 times worse) and I went to almond milk. I suffered from diarrhea and removed it completely. All of that stuff. I don’t even get diarrhea anymore and I am constantly energized.

Women before WW2 were either pregnant or long term breastfeeding their children, which meant the majority of their fertile years. Thus the absence of periods. Now women do not start a family at 14, and have a choice to either have children or not, and most choose to have 1 or 2 children, not 20 children of which around half will survive. And that means experiencing periods. Nothing unnatural about menstruation, it is not a disease, but in times when a woman’s only reason to exist was to produce children and raise them, if she was not pregnant or breastfeeding she was not productive and a shame/burden to her community, thus the menstruation considered dirty.

  • Chantel Bolduc

As a vegan woman who has experienced a delay and shortening of my period upon changing my lifestyle/diet, I identify completely with this article. Once I came to the startling realization that periods may not be natural, it was honestly kind of terrifying. I’m 19 and have had some sort of menstrual bleeding every month for a decade (excluding a brief stint with bc pills). I’ve spent a decade thinking something to be natural when it was my body crying out for help! I too am on my journey to try and end my menstruation, and would love to compare notes.

  • Ríz Noire

Beautiful article. I find it interesting that so many women will take blind advice from men produced by an oppressive society. News Flash women (even you feminists) question All that you’ve been taught. Consider the source. Its never empowered you (hence the “need” for a feminist movement), try something different, or at least consider it before shutting Sis down.

Anywho, I agree wholeheartedly. I’ve been vegetarian for 3 years and never experienced the harsh cramps and discomfort of menses, much like my omnivorous mother and sister. Since trying veganism, things stayed relatively stable, 3-5 day menses. However I was consuming large amounts of soy-based processed replacement foods. I’ve incorporated live foods and (for the most part) eliminated processed foods from my diet. Began my period yesterday, and she’s on her way out today. I am not anemic or calorie deficient. Just working my way to healthy. Do your research, Live your experiment. Trust in your own.

Remember, vegans. Just because it’s not meat or it’s byproducts Doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you. Learn what you’re consuming.

Thanks for an informative read 💛
