    By in large, that's what I think many advocates of abortion are about. They somehow feel that they have a right to be irresponsible and have no repercussions in their bad decisions. In my younger days I screwed around a fair bit, but I always wrapped it up.

    Now some will go on about mother's health and all that, and sure many are more than willing to accept that it may be necessary in certain circumstances. The fact is however that the vast majority of abortions that are carried out in this country are done so as birth control.

        If i was going to have a kid with downs or a similar untreatable illness, assuming the mother agrees, it'd be aborted. No doubt in my mind. I know too many people first hand who suffer day in and day out caring for these disabled people. Not only is the kids life miserable but that's what many of their caretakers lives become. I couldn't live with myself knowing i brought a life into this world only to suffer. If the mother disagreed I'd stick around until i couldn't bear it anymore and take the easy way out, off a bridge. Would that make me a coward? Yes. Witnessing their pain, and disability would break me.

        Will this offend people? Sure. Is it murder? To some people. I'd be willing to give up the kid to any parent with the means to provide 24/7/365 care for 20-100ish years. But it would be selfish and stupid for a poor blue collared schmuck like myself to try and raise a kid with these needs.

                    My wife's sister is like this even after college. She has failed repeatedly at being a responsible adult. She's got a marketable degree from a good school, but due to a lack of motivation/work ethic has never held anything other than menial entry level jobs (waitress, retail sales etc) and even those she has trouble keeping because she has issues showing up to work on time.

                    Recently my wife and I let her move in (not fun, it was like suddenly having a teenage daughter) with us and rent a room for way below market value (she still owes us like 2 months rent...), got her a job at my wife's work, tried to help her no be so worthless. So a few months later she meets a guy and after knowing him for a week or 2 moves in with him because apparently it's easier to pay rent on her back than to have a job...

                        Indeed. Breast feeding is free. Caring for the kid yourself is free. Gets more expensive to eat out when the kid starts eating solid food, but it's a good motivator to stop eating out.

                        People forget that child rearing is pleasurable. It is a joy. Yeah, it's hard. But as the birth clinic ladies would say, the same hormones that got the baby in there are at work afterward.

                        There would be no sex if there wasn't an intended result. This is also why women who have abortions are often an emotional wreck afterwards. They have violated those animal instincts and killed their own young. And the hormones punish them in kind.
