What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About this project

College Football Faniacs was created four years ago and just finished its fourth college football season. We are on Faniacs 3.0. Faniacs 3.0 is much different then 2.0 as Faniacs has moved to primarily providing Daily College Football Trivia.

Our main product is the Daily Factoid on College Football. For instance:

TODAY’S FACTOID

Where did Vic Beasley Jr. play football in college? (Factoid 1,011)

Vic Beasley Jr. played for the Clemson Tiger as an outside linebacker. He is ...http://www.collegefootballfaniacs.com/

We are creating an App to deliver Factoids to the mobile world: College Football Factoids 2017. We believe we can sell 100,000 downloads of the app in the mid-point range of $2.99.

We are raising $55,556 in this Kickstarter campaign. The use of funds breakdowns into this:

1. $32,000 to the app development company.

2. $5,000 for graphic artists services.

3. $8,000 for AP SEO services.

4. $5,000 for miscellaneous expenses.

5. $2,778 Kickstarter fee.

6. $2,778 payment processing fee.

It is our dream for millions of phones to have the Faniacs App. Please help us with this goal! We want to make everyone's day with our Daily College Football Factoid! It's going to be BIGLY!

Risks and challenges

The project risks are cost overruns associated with the app development. We believe the $5,000 in miscellaneous expenses could be used in a cost overrun scenario.

The graphics for the app have already been created, so the risk there is minimal.

There is a risk that the AP SEO services will not be useful. However, AP SEO services are necessary to succeed.
