When I first wrote about the increasingly infamous, and even more troubling, fake rape accusation way back in the middle of 2015, my initial feeling was hesitation. After all, talking about rape has always been a women's issue, and, in a real way, there is no way that a man can fully understand what a rape victim has gone through. Was I doing something wrong? Was I speaking out of turn? Was I a bad person for talking about rape from the perspective of a man?
And while it's true that a man can't fully empathize with an actual female rape victim, a false allegation of rape put on a man is certainly a men's issue, so I moved forward with my first blog on Fake Rape. I started from personal experience; going through high school and college my group of friends were definitely aware of certain females we'd meet lying about rape. We could call them Sally Rapehoax. But the problem didn't seem particularly pervasive. Certainly not every woman we'd encounter would lie about having a dramatic rape story, and the ones who were lying (I've yet to meet any woman who I'm willing to believe, despite being open to it) had certain tells: the experience always seemed like bullshit, filled with tons of holes. They never seemed to make it to the police. Instead of it being traumatic and awful, they almost conveyed their story with a feeling of depth and drama- as if it were something to build an identity around rather than the victim of an awful crime.
But something happened after I wrote that first blog on false rape accusations: Fake Rape went mainstream... and all the same tells that Sally Rapehoax had given as sure signs of her total bullshit were there. When a girl lugged a mattress around Columbia University, she turned something supposedly traumatic into a ham-fisted display of her "artistic depth." When Rolling Stone published a story about a girl being gang raped in a frat house, which read like fan-fiction, it had the same overblown dramatic flare that Sally Rapehoax told her stories with; and all of the same holes and bullshit.
Hell, a girl I had met from OKCupid even threatened me with a Fake Rape allegation when I wouldn't let her stay the night after sex! Thankfully nothing ever came of it.
And if this weren't enough, Fake Rape became commercialized. Lady Gaga released a video glamorizing rape. Even the new fucking Star Wars movie (Ep7) had a motherfucking FAKE RAPE IN IT.
And what did all this shit have in common? From the Rolling Stone story with the evil frat boys to the depiction of rape in Star Wars? The target was always white men, of course. The easiest target of them all! It should be obvious why- maybe Sally was rejected by the boy she liked. Maybe the Rolling Stone girl couldn't date the hawt Alpha frat boy she wanted. Maybe all the women whom Star Wars and Lady Gaga appeal to were willingly used and coldly rejected, and now this is what they cling to for revenge.
All because the average, nice man feels out of place calling out Fake Rape... hell, even discussing rape at all. And women take full advantage of this.
I was recently wasting my time having a debate on Fakebook over the silly, vagina hat women's march- poking holes in the absurdity with all the right talking points, when the rape card got dropped on me as a conversation ender. Yep, the old, "I WAS RAPED [THEREFORE I'M RIGHT.]"
And, of course, none of this has anything to do with real rape. Violent rape. Street rape. Women being snatched and beaten by a deranged sicko, almost as if they're two separate things...
Welcome to Rape[TM].
