I don't think he has dribbled and beaten a single man in all his games so far. Too muscular, top-heavy, no explosion and not that skilled to begin with. Always into the defenders' legs.

Like when he had a decent game against Midtjylland at Old Trafford and many United supporters were like "see? all he needed was a proper chance" or whatever. I went to that match and I remember so many other highlights - like Rashford scoring twice on hide debut, a good match by Herrera and his scoring a penalty, Poole coming in at the end of the match to make his debut as well... I really couldn't care less about about Memphis' performance against a team that didn't really present a challenge at Old Trafford. I mean, United's defense that night was Varela, Carrick, Blind and Riley. It was essentially a B team and United still won 5-1.

Even before that, at PSV, his dribbling wasn't all that great. Playing against lower-table Eredivisie minnows might have masked this for a while but ever since then... whenever he comes up against organized defenses and decent defenders, this happens.

At United, he only looked really skilled vs Brugge, Midgetland and some League Two side, which should say a lot. Of course, bulking up didn't help.

Seriously, look at this shit from last week. And look at the game we just watched.

Lyon have lost their touch for transfers a long time ago since the mid 00s. Theyve had years of really shit transfers and are just saved by the fact they have an amazing academy. Its weird because in the mid 00s they had amazing transfers (Essien, Malouda, Sonny Anderson, Abidal, etc ) and very good links with Brazil (Juninho, Cris, Ederson, Fred etc) and they lost all their knoweldge. Especially stupid because the biggest club legend Juninho is a very intellingent man and wants to work for them but Aulas doesnt want to hire yet. Apparently because Aulas is power hungry thats why Lyon a big rich club will never get a foreign or big manager- no they will get an uknown from the club ranks. Its currently the only big French without a foreigner (Portuguese, Spanish, Swiss) or a French one who has success abroad (Garcia at Roma). Almost the whole lineup wenth through the academy. Aulas should put people with knowhow in transfers and open up the club to non Lyon people and I reckon they could do much better with their assets. Doesnt help that Lyon players are known to be cliquy about non Lyon guys as if they are from la masia

Juninho is a very intellingent man and wants to work for them but Aulas doesnt want to hire yet.

Can confirm, he's been doing TV punditry in Brazil and he's one of the best in the country at it. And he indeed mentioned before that Aulas doesn't want him back at the club.

But yeah, shame about that, I guess all the success from the mid-00s went to Aulas' head big-time. Teams like Monaco and Nice are doing now what Lyon used to do then, even St. Etienne and Lille to a lesser extent.

He did play regularly, missing only 3 games due to injury and cards. He played full games, just badly.

In PSG he had a good debut, but we'll see how he does in the long run. Players often have good debut, and other times they take a year or two to show their best. Most never do.

I saw only 2nd half

Lyon seemed like they had no idea how to score, Lacazette stuck to Perrin. Only danger came from individual plays by Valbuena and Ghezzal.

On the other hand good team effort by Saint - Ettiene, it's hard to even say who stood out - Perrin? Saivet? Honorary mention to Lemoine for Lyon red cards, although Tolisso challenge was very dumb

I thought Søderlund looked great out there, involved in both goals and was a pain for the Lyon defenders all game, as well as putting in a decent shift defensively.

Saint Etienne's midfield did brilliantly to force most of Lyon's attacks out wide, where they looked very weak. So hats off to Pajot and Veretout as well if you're gonna name Saivet.

But really as you say, great team effort from Saint Etienne overall. Well deserved.

Fuck Génésio for giving us that shit lineup that was never going to work, going back to the 4-3-3 and starting with Valbuena and Ghezzal on the bench probably was the dumbest thing he's ever done. Stop fucking giving Memphis free time on the pitch, he needs to earn it. I get that you want to help him to get his confidence back but it's crippling the team. He's like our 6th best forward for now, he shouldn't see the pitch if Lacazette, Valbuena, Ghezzal, Fékir and Cornet are healthy for the derby. They all fucking were tonight.
