About this project
In Philanthropy: the Social Justice Game, players strive to bring resolution to many social justice causes in our world, such as poverty, slavery, and more. They do this primarily through the use of their “policy” cards. Players compete to play their policies on different nations, fighting for the nations with the most influence and/or the most nations to influence. Different policies are worth different amounts and should be defended.
There are also cards that intervene with other's plans, lifestyle cards that give you bonuses based off "how you live", and world crisis cards that switch everything up. It makes the game fast-paced, full of player interaction, and very fun, all while being educational.
We like to challenge the winner of the game to support a charity somehow, or to make extra effort to volunteer in their community that week. In doing so, we remind ourselves that a truly fulfilling life is not only one that enjoys community with others (via games, for example), but is one that serves others.
In doing so, we all join the mission: changing the world—one card at a time.

Risks and challenges
In preparation for our Kickstarter release, we have already poured thousands of dollars into the project. We risk not recovering these initial investments in the event that we do not hit our goal. Now you may be wondering what we spent all of that on...
- Demos: we have had 4 demo versions printed for game testing and development.
- Graphic Design: there are a lot of graphics involved in designing a game so this is not cheap, even when you know people.
- Promotional Videos: a professional video is essential for effectively communicating our ideas and inspiring people to back our project.
So, if our goal is not reached, we have lost all of this. If it is reached, we have accounted for all costs to supply everyone with what they have asked for and to break even on our personal investments. As we go beyond our goal, we begin to have some compensation for the months of work we have put in.
Now are there any obstacles to getting the games to you all when we are backed? Perhaps some delays in shipping or misprinting I suppose. Maybe shipping fees will be higher than expected. If that is the case, then there are multiple solutions. Some postal carriers ask receivers to pay the difference at the door. If the price difference isn't too bad and it is still in the budget, we could cover it. What if the delays in shipping happen? Then we develop greater patience. A misprint? As one who runs a business in my personal time, conflict resolution through moral responsibility on the side of a company that errs is an easy win.
All this to say, whatever comes our way, we will be there to work through it with you so that you can work through changing the world- one card at a time- with us.
Thank you.
